Some kids enter Adashino-sensei's shed and find a lot of strange things, but there's one thing in particular that interests them. It's night and Adashino-sensei is called upon to look at one of the kids, a girl who has become bitterly cold, and the cause is a mysterious ink stone she touched. Luckily for Adashino-sensei, Ginko is passing through the village, and he shows him the ink stone, which he identifies it as a "Kumohami".

Through this chance reunion between these two childhood friends, both Akira and Fumi make a promise to go to school together despite the fact that they attend two different schools, while still making other friends along the way. Almost as if they were making up for lost time, the intimacy between the two starts to deepen. Entering school and overcome with excitement, Akira and fellow classmate - Kyouko Ikumi - decide to join the drama club. Respectively, Fumi decides to join the literary club and along the way mistakens Yasuko - the cool, boyish upper classman who is part of the basketball club - as part of the literary club. Yasuko later decides to make a guest appearance at Akira and Kyouko's club.

After dealing with their small problems there is one more person who has lost sound in both of his ears and his condition is very different than the other people's, as he has also grown four horns on his head.

Hideki wakes up to discover he really now owns a Persocom~! Shinbo comes over and realizes what Hideki was hiding the other night. He tries (stress tries) to help Hideki by seeing if Chii has any DATA or PCN numbers. When he can't find any (After Sumomo has crashed from trying) he sends Hideki and Chii to Minorus house. Minoru too is unsuccesful, but Yuzuki has given info that Chii has DATA just hidden. Minoru talks about a legendary Perscom series called "Chobits." As they go home Minoru gives Hideki some advice about Chii.
