The ship is whisked off course and into a meteor storm due to Dr. Smith's extra weight upsetting the navigational computers. Smith desperately tries to save himself by reviving the crew. The result: the Robinson family becomes lost in space.

Professor Robinson attempts to explore a planet that the Robinson's are planning to land on. His para-jet propulsion system fails due to sabotage by Dr. Smith. Major West "lands" the Jupiter II, in spite of the fact that Dr. Smith has also sabotaged the propulsion system of the Jupiter II, and the family and Major West rescue Professor Robinson.

After Gilligan is unable to save Mary Ann from drowning in the lagoon, the Skipper must jump in and rescue both of them. The Castaways then devise schemes to boost Gilligan's ego, and help him feel like a hero.

After Gilligan saves Mrs. Howell's life, Mr. Howell decides to make him his son. He immediately puts Gilligan through basic training to be a millionaire's socialite son (dream sequence), changing the way he walks, talks and dresses. However, Gilligan and the rest of the castaways miss the "old Gilligan."

The Howells plan a party, and Mr. Howell accidentally loses the Skipper's invitation. The others refuse to attend, believing that the Howells have intentionally snubbed the Skipper.

The wife of an arms dealer is kidnapped by revolutionaries who want the guns diverted from their original destination, but the arms dealer himself is not as innocent as matters would indicate…

A psychiatrist friend of Ironside's is murdered, and the only clues are his collection of artworks. Is one of the artists the murderer? And if so, which one?

Handsome surfer Duke Williams rides a giant tsunami to the island. At first, the castaways are excited as Duke thinks he will turn around and surf back to Hawaii (and send help). However, after seeing Mary Ann and Ginger, he decides he may want to stay for a while. The castaways must come up with a plan to make him want to leave for Hawaii.

Mrs. Howell decides to engineer a romance between Gilligan and Mary Ann.

Gilligan wakes up with white hair, and thinks he overhears the Professor say that he has a rare disease that has made him age quickly (the disease? ""follicular albinism""). When Mrs. Howell attempts to fix the problem by dyeing Gilligan's hair brown, the dye causes his hair to fall out. A classic line occurred as the other Castaways tried to act as though they don't notice Gilligan's baldness … Mrs. Howell's famous breakfast order: ""I think I'll have a hard-bald egg."" Later, the Skipper exhibits the same symptoms. The Professor determines the problems are caused by the crude bleach that Gilligan and the Skipper have been using while washing the castaways clothing.
