General Irving calls for a meeting with Dr. Morris & Michael. He wants them to perform an "information retrieval" mission of a personal nature, to recover some compromising photos for him. If they don't get them and the General is removed from office then their funding could go as well. To get the photos he needs Michael to break into the safe of Senator Kragen, during a reception held at his home. Roger is asked by his boss, Craig, to go to the same reception and, as his wife is unable to go, invites Lisa to go with him.

Meredith is back. She wants to pick things up with Gary where they left last time they met. But the paper seems to be in the way of Gary developing anything deeper with her, since he doesn't want her to have access to it. She promises not to read it, but Chuck walks in on her reading the paper. They make a deal, and Chuck wins over 15 million in the stock market. He gets in trouble and steals the paper to lose the 15 million, but Gary thinks Meredith stole it. After reconciliation, Meredith leaves for Washington.

Gary is chosen to serve as a juror in the trial of a man accused of stealing money from his company. Since the defendant is defending himself, the judge has the jury sequestered, which means Gary can't get access to the paper.

Rebecca's life is threatened after she witnesses a murder and picks the killer out of a police lineup. Jimmy continues his case against the electric company.

The furor over Lindsay's demand for partnership continues. Bobby discovers that Lindsay's not the only associate looking for another job. Rebecca is involved in a car accident she believes is a scam. Rebecca and Jimmy go undercover to ferret out the guilty. Ellenor meets up with an old friend in the midst of a chimpanzee custody trial.

The Saratoga has a mysterious new passenger: a battle-scarred special-forces commando whose classified mission directives put the 58th at his disposal, even if it means leading them to certain disaster.

Chaz, now a med student, begins his ER rotation. Morris takes him under his wing and shows him some risky procedures, endangering a patient and raising Banfield's ire. Neela becomes upset when Banfield questions her authority and skills in front of her intern. Gates invites Sam and Alex to move in with him and Sarah.

The Devil misleads Sam into thinking his next escaped soul is an easy catch and encourages him to take along the gang for a road trip. Unfortunately, when they arrive, they discover a tentacled beast has taken over a small town and is eyeing each of them as its next dinner. Meanwhile, Andi feels Sam is becoming too comfortable with this lifestyle, Ben struggles to not be so clingy with Nina, and Sock makes one last effort to sleep with his stepsister.
