Kawaki has lost an arm in the battle against Delta, so he is given the prosthetic arm made for Naruto. Though the prosthetic can't move without Naruto's chakra, Naruto shares some of his chakra with Kawaki. Kawaki is surprised by this gesture and remembers how Naruto said that chakra is the power to form bonds with one another. He asks Naruto to train him in Ninjutsu. Konan encloses Tobi in an chasm with a large amount of explosive tags that detonates in a wide area. Tobi manages to survive with his Izanagi techique, sacrificing one eye, and pierces Konan behind. Tobi explains his technique to Konan. Konan refuses to give up and continues to fight Tobi. Tobi manages to subdue her and places Konan inside a genjutsu to force her to reveal the location of the Rinnegan. Tobi travels to the location and retrieves Nagato's corpse and then takes his leave. A bloodied piece of paper is blown of Konan's body by the wind and travels to her childhood hideout. As it travels, more of the Ame Orphans past with Jiraiya is revealed, as well as some of their time as the original Akatsuki. Meanwhile, Tobi, with a new outfit, is told by Zetsu that they have received intel on the Nine-Tails wherabouts from Kisame. He declares that it's time to capture the Nine-Tails.

The Net Game Club members find that they are obliged to take part in the upcoming school culture festival. However, they are at a loss as to what presentation to make, until Kyoh has an idea that coincides with Legendary Age's fall update.

Yūkimaru summons the Three-Tailed and immobilizes it while Guren tries to capture it. It manages to break free and attack. Kakashi tells Naruto to investigate the lake, while they find Rinji and the others. Rinji and his men prepare an ambush, but Hinata, Sakura, and Sai arrive to avert it. Naruto summons Gamakichi and Gamatatsu and approach the Three-Tails, where they see Yūkimaru and learn of his allegiance to Guren. Trying to save Guren, Yūkimaru tries to suppress the Three-Tails once more, before managing to escape with her.

Itachi accompanies his friend Shisui on a three-part training exercise. The two come across a battle between the Hokage’s ANBU and the Foundation. Itachi is confused by their motives and can't discern which side is right or wrong. But Shisui is unwavering in his determination to stop the fighting.

Returning to the inn, Lawrence apologizes to Holo for before and gives her the little money he managed to collect, to use for traveling expenses. As Lawrence is leaving, he is surprised when Holo throws the money at him. After making up, Holo informs Lawrence of a dangerous plan to get him out of debt.

After the peformance of the forbidden jutsu, Hotaru is horrified to see the damage the jutsu has done. Shiranami then notices the forbidden jutsu overflowing with chakra and the fact that it would destroy itself along with Hotaru. While the members of Team Hebi head towards Itachi's location, Jiraiya infiltrates the Hidden Rain Village in hopes of gathering information on the Akatsuki leader. Jiraiya captures two Rain ninja and interrogates them about Pain, but what he learns shocks even him.

After successfully breaking out of Itachi's Tsukiyomi, Sasuke gains the upper hand on his weakened brother. With no other alternative, Itachi activates his second Mangekyo ability, Amaterasu, a black flame said to burn forever.

Ichika ends up slamming a volleyball into the face of her classmate, Tamaru Kai during gym class. She later goes to apologize to him when he's reading a book, but she realizes the book is connected to the anime that she loves, and Kai promises to lend her the series. That night Ryo meets up with Ichika at a convenience store so he can walk her home, and Kai also happens to be there. Ryo finds out that Kai is letting Ichika borrow some books. Kai tells Ichika that he'll see her tomorrow at school, but then Ryo calls him over.

In Ergastulum, there are signs that Anti-Twilights raise a riot. The evening party should have been held safely, but it’s not so.

Momoshiki, Kinshiki and Urashiki of the Otsutsuki Clan suddenly appear in the arena filled with spectators. Using his Scientific Ninja Tool, Boruto hurls jutsu after jutsu to no avail against Momoshiki, who is targeting Naruto. Meanwhile, Urashiki is curious about Mitsuki's strange power and goes after him, but he is confronted by Gaara along with the Mizukage Chojuro. Naruto and the other ninja do all they can to protect the citizens, and for the first time, Boruto witnesses the magnitude of his father's power in real combat.

Wounded and hungry, Kawaki escapes from the tech lab and makes his way to a nearby town to find food. Sumire tracks him down, believing she can help him. Meanwhile, Naruto begins making his way to the area to meet with Kawaki himself.

Kawaki begins to worry that his presence is endangering everyone in the Leaf Village. Just as he makes the decision to leave, he notices Himawari acting strange.

Team 7, with Sarada as captain, are assigned a mission. Mirai, who was on a mission with Konohamaru, returns to the village critically injured. The mission was supposed to be simple, but Mirai reports that the situation has changed drastically. It’s decided that reinforcements will be sent and Team 7 volunteers to go.

The main squad led by Funamushi is getting close to the village. Boruto and the others stand by, intending to use traps to slow down the enemy. However, the enemy sees through their plan and they are suddenly thrust into a full-scale battle. Despite being shaken, Boruto and the others fight back. Working together, they are able to handle the enemy’s overwhelming numbers. Even still, Funamushi burns with the desire for revenge and uses a powerful jutsu to corner them.
