Hitchhiking on the road, Camille meets Oli, stuck with a flat tire in his broken down car. Oli wants to go to Rouyn-Noranda, Camille wants to go - anywhere but here. Stuck together without a spare tire, they start opening up to each other.

Camille and Oli stop at an ice cream parlor, but are inexplicably caught up by Chris, Camille's fiancé. Oli learns more about the strange world that ties the betrothed together as Chris tries to convince Camille to come back with him.

While Oli fills up the tank at a gas station, Camille meets Jade, a grumpy businesswoman - and Oli's half-sister. Camille finally learns the real reason why Oli is traveling to Rouyn.

Camille, Oli and Jade stop at a motel to spend the rest of the night. Camille believes the loss of the car is a sign that they should turn back. Oli tries to settle things with his sister on his own terms.

Following an unfortunate casualty, Camille, Oli, Chris and Jade decide to cross the enormous forest of La Vérendrye on foot. Bad blood disappears in favor of a temporary truce: to survive, they must help each other.

The foursome finally reaches Rouyn. Oli and Camille lock themselves in Oli's old family house and try to elaborate a plan to prevent Jade from selling Chris the house. But the universe still has some cards up its sleeve.
