PJ's frustration mounts when all the evidence of Maggie's murder points to him. He throws himself into the investigation but there is confusion over his recall of events. PJ believes it was a contract hit but his theories don't tally with the evidence. When the murder weapon isn't found and the Heelers discover PJ's gun is missing from the safe, Homicide turns to PJ for answers.

The Heelers are shocked to learn that Maggie has called off her engagement to PJ and is leaving Mt. Thomas for a new job in Melbourne. After the torching of her house, she seeks safety elsewhere and knows that it can only be through the witness protection program. But when her pick-up arrives, Maggie learns that her father has been abducted and her plans to reach safety are in jeopardy. When Maggie is shot by a mysterious assailant, PJ collapses in shock

It's raining cats and dogs in Mount Thomas and Nick and Adam are overdue back from patrol. When they arrive they are drenched through and their uniforms are in tatters. The other Heelers have no idea of the extent of their trauma until Tom asks them to explain themselves and Adam bursts into tears. While Dash attempts to draw the story out of Adam, Nick disappears to change his uniform. However, shock has taken over and he withdraws into himself, making it difficult to find out the true story. Adam explains that it all began when they attempted to rescue a young girl from a flooded stormwater drain. While Nick held onto her and attempted to stop her from being dragged away, he sent Adam for help. However Adam soon found himself in the middle of a crisis of his own involving the girl's sister and wasn't able to get back in time. The paddock at the lonely Biden farm has revealed the remains of three more murder victims, all teenage girls. Charlie Biden has already admitted to killing one, and is clearly the murderer of the others. His wife, Marie, frustratingly takes the high moral ground, until Charlie dies violently in custody, obviously by means of Marie. Mark takes the blame for this death as well and spins further into despair.

Maggie's boyfriend is suspected of being on the take when a horse racing ring-in is discovered. An unexpected car accident hits the Heelers close to home.

When a vital piece of evidence goes missing from the station, Tom has to face the unpleasant prospect that one of his team might be corrupt. As the accusations fly, Monica Draper arrives to conduct an investigation. Both Adam and Dash comes under scrutiny - both have a connection to the case and both had the means and opportunity. The stolen evidence, a videotape, incriminates Dash's ex-teacher - a woman who had a profound influence on Dash and convinced her to join the force.

An overnight trip to Melbourne turns stormy for Maggie and Chris when they stumble into an armed holdup at a service station. Prison escapees, the McKenzie brothers, are on the run when they confront Chris paying for petrol with Maggie's purse. After hours of checking phone numbers, Jack finally discovers the owner when he is only meters of the perpetrator. Will the robbers take Jack and Chris hostage when they realise their plan is unveiled?

Jo, Jonesy and Tom join some St Davids members, Rusty, Snr Sergeant Baines, and A sergeant, Kirsten (with who Rusty has had an affair) on a team building adventure weekend - a 'love in'. Done in classic flashback style, we initially see Ben in the sack with Inspector Falcon Price's wife Felicity. We next see FP accusing Jo of sabotaging equipment in an attempt to 'kill' him. As the episode progresses, the teams at the love in, all on first name bases, are picked. Jo being 'red' team leader, Rusty being 'blue'. A healty competition ensues with some in fighting within the blue team, consisting of Rusty, Jonesy and Snr Sergean Baines. Baines is ridiculed by Rusty when they have to cross a river, whilst Jonesy uoends the raft on which FP is floating. In typical flashback style we're taken initially to the crime as it happens, the lead up to the crime and then the investigation. At the same time, we see Ben attend his first AA meeting and a chance meeting with Mrs felecity Falcon Price. th

Joss attempts to break things off with Fay Tudor but she doesn't agree. What he soon realises however, is that he is attempting to break off with her because he actually likes the relationship for once. Kelly is riding high after she gets payback on sleazy Sergeant Holland, but it isn't long before he is trying his old tricks on another young woman named Shayleen, who is only 15. Tarni Baxter returns to town, and Tom is certain that she is desperate for vengeance after Tom's arrest of her family. While he and Tarni square off, he arrests her boyfriend Ryan for possession of drugs, only Mark is suspicious that he planted the drugs himself. Tom arrives home that afternoon to find his dog, Digger, viciously murdered. Kelly realises that Roy is dangerous and makes a formal complaint to Tom, who agrees with her and suspends Roy, who then threatens him. The next day Tom's rental car is found on a deserted road, completely destroyed by fire - and with a charred body at the wheel.

Amy initiates a deadly game of cat and mouse with the accused doctor. Despite Jonesy's warnings, she accepts a lunch invitation only to discover the he has a son with Downs Syndrome and doesn't appear to be quite the monster she had imagined. Amy traces the boy's mother and uncovers the doctor's first victim, but just as she is about to put the doctor away, he again turns the table on her.

Amy and Even are attempting an undercover operating when their cover is blown and Matt is almost shot. Tom is still battling with, and coming to terms with, his cancer and knows that he should be taking his time and renewing ties with his estranged family. He is distracted when disgraced former police-officer Adam Cooper arrives in Mount Thomas, as a photocopier technician. Cooper, who was dismissed by Tom for corruption, attempts to frame Tom and accuses him of illegally selling stolen firearms following the bombing of the former Mount Thomas police station; these are accusations that Inspector Falcon-Price is gleeful to hear and he readily accepts them and grants Cooper anything he desires. Tom also helps fellow cancer suffer, Gina, in her final days and Heelers are left to pick up the pieces. Alex and Amy must prepare for Tom's approaching case, which he seems to have no care for at all, and they are stretched to breaking point. After the accusations against Tom, the Inspector announces that the Mount Thomas station is to close and the Heelers start to find new jobs, facing the fact that they must leave Mount Thomas. Finally, Cooper's scheme is foiled, it is announced that the station is to remain open and the Inspector leaves, very disappointed.

Tom is incensed when he discovers that red paint has been thrown over the war memorial two days before Remembrance Day and gives up his day off to find the person responsible. Meanwhile Keith Purvis comes in to pay a traffic fine which turns out to be bogus; there must be a fake cop operating in the area. Tom goes to interview a suspect in the desecration case and finds him to be an old policemate from NSW who has just been forced to retire amid corruption allegations and is now looking for somewhere to retire. Could he be the fake copper? Then an angry motorist reports he is the victim of ""road rage""—a young hoon just tried to run him off the road. Tom is convinced there is some sort of link between these diverse incidents. And Dash also runs into an old friend, under suspicious circumstances also. Her old schoolmate, Rosie, has just punched Adam in the eye after he attempted to break up a fight over the darts board in the Imperial. Tom finds his link, but it's not what he thought. Ro

Tom and Chris' longstanding friendship is put in jeopardy when Chris finds a fifty-year-old journal in her cellar. The journal appears to have been owned by a young woman and Chris discovers that it is the true account of a romance gone wrong and murder. Chris brings the journal to Tom, asking him to discover the identity of the murderer and bring them to justice. There are no names used in the journal, but nevertheless Tom works out that the owner is a local spinster - the last person you'd ever suspect of hiding a murder for fifty years. Now that the owner of the journal has been revealed, Chris wants the investigation dropped; she doesn't want to see this woman put behind bars. Tom isn't keen on throwing the woman in the cells either, but a murder has been committed and he has no choice but to continue with his enquiries. This puts Tom and Chris, normally allies, head to head, with Chris aggressively defending the woman and Tom bringing her in to face the murder charges.

PJ is arrested for Maggie's murder but the case begins to crumble when their prize witness is found dead. PJ's only way out is an unreliable witness with vital information on the murder weapon. Will PJ's fate be freedom or life behind bars?

Constables Jo Parrish and Jack Lawson answer a call to attend a gang of youths drinking in a park. When the duo arrives, they find two girls involved in an altercation. Jo decides it would be best to let the kids go, but when one of the girls is reported missing the next day, Jo's leniency is called into question.

What do an alleged Peeping Tom, a trip wire in the National Park, a break and enter and a bashed truck driver have in common? When Inspector Falcon-Price joins the team for the day in a publicity stunt, he sets out partnering Jo for the day. After a series of incidents, he goes missing and it is Jo's responsibility to lead the others into combat...

The gruelling investigation of the attacks on the Mt. Thomas police continues, as Tom heads to Melbourne to investigate the man who sold the parts for the bomb. He links it to chemical dealer 'Doc' Parkinson, and is determined to prove that he provided the Baxters with supplies for both the bomb and the speed. Although Nick seems to be against this idea, he does join PJ and Amy - who everyone at the station is very impressed with - on another search of the Baxter property, during which time he plants listening devices in their home - which ultimately lead them to discover the truth. On a doorknock, Jonesy and Susie rescue an attractive woman named Donna from a rubbish skip she has been locked in, and Jonesy falls for her. That night at the pub, her former de facto lover hits him, and then claims that Donna took all his possessions, and is a con artist. Ben has been fawning over Susie a little too much, buying her expensive gifts, and she ultimately gives them back and leaves him unsure

Tom has been formerly charged with murder, and he seems unwilling to even help PJ and Nick find the truth, even though they also believe that Tarni Baxter has something that she's hiding. But when Kelly is kidnapped, they must attempt to convince Tom to help them rescue her and in doing so, prove his innocence. Meanwhile, Amy attempts to get rid of a case that is annoying her by passing it on to anyone who will take it; and Joss learns more about Lindy Schroder, who was given the position at the station because she is a friend of Mark's.

The Heelers are concerned about Tom's health and, despite Amy's nagging, Tom is still very reluctant to see a doctor and denies claims that he is unwell. In the midst of this, Tom becomes personally involved in the case of a young boy who is being bullied and tormented by his peers; this forces Tom to reminisce about his troubles as a child. Matt helps an old colleague of Tom's when he arrives at the station seeking help with an old case.

A violant prison escapee holds Wayne hostage, throwing the station into turmoil. But it isn't the hostage crisis that will be the most tragic event of the day...

PJ and Tom refuse to believe that Maggie could be leaking information to a suspected drug dealer. PJ is stymied, but before he and Tom can decide what to do, their boss, District Inspector Russell Falcon-Price, arrives demanding to know why they have not yet reported Maggie. He calls in Inspector Monica Draper, from Ethical Standards Division, who interviews Maggie—and promptly suspends her from duty. Still convinced of her innocence, PJ is frantic. When he can't get through to Maggie, he sends Tom, who is similarly unsuccessful. Maggie, it seems, just will not help herself. In stunned disbelief, the other Heelers continue with the business of trying to clean up the local hard drug scene—in spite of the previous night's failed raid on Shorty's nightclub. Nick and Dash observe young Kylie Bunton behaving suspiciously outside ‘the party palace'—another suspected drug dissemination point—and plan to mount a raid the next day. Mt. Thomas station is full of secrets. Maggie and PJ have come back from holidays deeply in love but determined that no one, especially Tom, will find out about their new relationship. Meanwhile, Nick and Adam have intercepted Dash's Confirmation Certificate as a fully-fledged constable in order to have it framed for a special presentation, and Tom and Chris are conspiring to organise a surprise celebration for Dash's 20th birthday. Into this web of intrigue comes a very distressed Elly Winslow, asking for police protection because her ex-husband, Danny Hobson, has just been released from prison in Queensland where he was serving time for sexually molesting his own son, and she is terrified that he will come looking for them.

Tess and Tom must choose a new policeman for nearby Widgeree. Tom thinks old fashion policing is the way to go and suggests Senior Constable Ian ""Gossie"" Goss but Tess disagrees. She picks a different candidate—a modern by-the-book policeman Simon Barclay. Inspector Falcon-Price backs up Tess, driving a wedge between Tom and Tess, and Senior Constable Barclay gets the job. But Tom is soon proven right as Barclay gets the locals offside from day one.
