PJ's frustration mounts when all the evidence of Maggie's murder points to him. He throws himself into the investigation but there is confusion over his recall of events. PJ believes it was a contract hit but his theories don't tally with the evidence. When the murder weapon isn't found and the Heelers discover PJ's gun is missing from the safe, Homicide turns to PJ for answers.

However Adam soon found himself in the middle of a crisis of his own involving the girl's sister and wasn't able to get back in time. Alex and Amy must prepare for Tom's approaching case, which he seems to have no care for at all, and they are stretched to breaking point. After the accusations against Tom, the Inspector announces that the Mount Thomas station is to close and the Heelers start to find new jobs, facing the fact that they must leave Mount Thomas. Finally, Cooper's scheme is foiled, it is announced that the station is to remain open and the Inspector leaves, very disappointed.

Tom goes to interview a suspect in the desecration case and finds him to be an old policemate from NSW who has just been forced to retire amid corruption allegations and is now looking for somewhere to retire. Tom sends out Wayne to the Henderson farm to investigate some fence damage. While investigating the incident Wayne spots a car that appears to be broken down and he offers his assistance. As he approaches the car they occupants shoot Wayne and drive off. Wayne who is bleeding from the gun shot attempts to drag himself back to his vehicle to call for help, but he passes out. Meanwhile Maggie is trying to get hold of Wayne on the radio but is unsuccessful. A women who was passing by noticed the injured officer and uses the police radio in Wayne's vehicle to call for help and Maggie and Nick rush out to the scene to assist. Maggie takes Roz to the hospital to see Wayne. Roz informs Wayne she won't be taking the job in Melbourne and that she loves him and doesn't know what
