Season 12

10 years of disclosures

A never-ending heat wave, huge fires, torrential rain. This summer, our country has experienced a season from hell. With global warming, natural disasters are multiplying, especially droughts that attack and crack houses. In France, 10 million homes could be affected.

Journalist Mathieu Robert investigated this invisible scourge and discovered that the French are increasingly badly compensated. Insurance companies very often refuse to reimburse the damage. Cash investigation will tell you the story of the obstacle course of these victims of the drought, who are becoming more and more numerous.

Droughts, floods: who will pay the bill?

In 2019, the French gave five billion euros to charities. And companies have understood the importance of this for their image. Their donations to NGOs are constantly increasing: 3.5 billion euros this year. But this generosity of large groups may have a hidden side. "Cash Investigation" has discovered that in order to conquer this manna, some associations sometimes forget their missions. Misuse of donors' money, conflicts of interest, lack of calls for tender, the malfunctions are numerous. Yet there is a label, Don en confiance, which is supposed to control them. But there is often a gap between the promise and the reality.

Companies, sponsorship, associations: dangerous links

In 2021, according to figures from the French National Health Insurance, 72% of the amount of fraud detected will be committed by health professionals. Elise Lucet and her team investigated dental centres. Some of these groups seem to have become cash machines billing for useless or fictitious procedures. Repentant dentists testify. Former patients tell of being mutilated. Liberal nurses seem to be the health professionals who commit the most fraud. Some of them artificially inflate the bills of insured persons, especially the oldest and most vulnerable patients. Does the social security system manage to recover the money from fraud? With the introduction of third-party payment, the Assurance Maladie must now reimburse health professionals within a very short time. Even if it means carrying out few controls.

Social security hold-up: who benefits from fraud?

In recent months, some multinationals have been making super profits. Total, for example, currently earns 73 million euros per day. Profits that would finance the energy transition and the fight against global warming. But what about these fine green promises? Elise Lucet and the Cash Investigation team investigated the French oil company's mega project in Uganda and Tanzania.

Superprofits: multinationals in green

Since the creation of "Cash Investigation" ten years ago, 59 issues have been broadcast, in all more than 100 hours of programming. Let's look back at some of the highlights of this adventure.

Cash Investigation gives new life to investigative investigations by tackling in each new issue different subjects concerning the business world (drug industry, ready to wear, tax havens, neuromarketing, planned obsolescence ...) but also to the managers themselves.
