    Marc is on edge ahead of his court appearance the following day and he wallows in his room, as if it is the last time he'll be able to. Sean becomes concerned and asks Tara if she would mind playing second fiddle on this occasion. She seems happy enough until he seemingly stands her up later in the day and Andrew takes delight in rubbing Tara's nose in it. Angie feels pushed out when Ollie joins Marc and Sean for a walk, but Sean drops a bombshell and tells them it is time he moved on from the village. Marc is stunned, but Ollie intimates that she would like to go with him. Nicola takes great delight in watching Maggie row with Phil and Jess when they return to the holiday park. Jess finds herself defending her mum to Maggie before finding an unlikely ally in Lucy.

    The events of 10th September have had a marked effect on Marc's life and he is terrified as he prepares for his day in court for the death of Miss Strickland. Donna ignores Viv's warning to stay away from him and gives Marc a lucky charm before he heads off to the courthouse. It seems it could have the desired effect when Marc learns that one of the more lenient judges is sitting. But it is not to be Marc's day as the judge hands down 12 months. Andrew continues to bait Tara about Sean losing interest in her. The remarks hit home and decides to move her horses out of the Stud Farm and leave Emmerdale as soon as possible. Zoe is happy to see the stallions go but Andrew wonders if he hasn't shot himself in the foot. Jess and Maggie are still at each other's throats and Phil finds himself caught in the crossfire. Charity gives Sean the day off but he confesses that he needs a lifetime away from the village. Chris offers to buy Sean's half of the haulage business for Charity and he gladly accepts. He announces to locals that he is leaving and Terry lets slip that Tara is on her way too. Sean visits her to ask her to leave with him but is angered when she refuses to commit herself. And things don't get any better for Sean when he ends up rowing with Angie after Ollie announces she is leaving with him.

    Marc is stunned when he receives a visit from Sean and Ollie to tell him they are leaving the village for good. He accuses Ollie of being selfish and begs her not to leave. His words hit home and, much to Angie's joy, she decides not to leave. Sean pushes ahead with his plans, though, and says his farewells in The Woolpack. But he is stunned by the upper-class hitch-hiker he spots as he drives away from the village. Lady Tara declares that she is leaving with him and he is only too happy to have her join him to make a new start together. Jack is troubled by what the future holds for him and Seth assures him that he has made the right decision selling the farm.

She agrees to let Ashley take the baby off her hands for the night, so that she can get a good night's sleep.     Latisha has Cain very much on her mind and is delighted when he offers her a lift to Hotten, but Cynthia isn't taken by the idea of her daughter spending so much time with the wayward Dingle. Cain isn't happy when Latisha brings baby Kirk along and makes his excuses before disappearing. But he is soon back on the scene when a thief pounces and tries to steal Latisha's bag. The thief hadn't reckoned on Cain's intervention and he is soon sent packing. Jason isn't happy when Latisha announces that she is dropping some beer off to Cain as a thank you. And his concerns prove valid when beer leads to the bedroom! Diane fusses over the baby and suggests names that Bernice quickly rejects.

    Life as a single mother is taking its toll on Bernice and, unable to deal with the pressure, she takes her frustration out on everyone around her. The situation doesn't improve when the midwife arrives and suggests that a pub is not necessarily the best place for a baby. Ashley is worried when Bernice visits him and tells him of the midwife's concerns. Seizing the opportunity he suggests that they should move in to the vicarage. Viv discovers that the local MP is standing down and decides to run for office herself. Meanwhile, Eric visits Chris and asks him to support his campaign. Charity is pleased to hear of his visit and is convinced that it may be the ideal way to blackmail Eric into helping her land the refuge contract. Paddy grows frustrated by his mother's attempts to contact him. After yet another phone call, he tells her not to ring again.

Paddy's life is becoming unbearable as Barbara continues to plague him with phone calls. Unable to deal with her constant attempts to contact him, he enlists Jason's help to vet his calls. Tricia comes up with a novel way of putting prospective buyers off Kathy's cottage - by telling them that the local prostitute lives next door! He is furious when he finds that she isn't home and is convinced it is just another of her games. But as he and Emily reach the airport, Paddy receives some devastating news about his mum from Jason. Marlon is anxious that the cottage must sell quickly because he knows that Kathy will need the money for her fresh start down under.

Zak's pride takes a knock when he is unable to match the amount that Cain puts in to the housekeeping pot. He is impressed when Cain tells him that he has found work as a bouncer, and asks him if he could get him a job. However, Lisa is unimpressed by the idea.

The news sets him thinking and he soon realises that he needs to apologise to Emily for his recent behaviour. Like a knight in shining armour, Paddy rescues her from an argument with her furious driving instructor. The ice is broken and Paddy seizes the opportunity by asking Emily to marry him. Zak devises a get rich quick scheme which simply cannot fail - suing the council for compensation. He persuades Sam to take a dramatic fall down a pot hole in the hope that he might be injured. Unfortunately, their attempt is unsuccessful. Zak isn't finished yet and decides to go to extreme lengths to break Sam's arm.

    Zak makes it clear that his mum is not welcome and is far from happy at the thought of her being in his home - let alone sleeping under the same roof. He goes to drastic lengths to make alternative arrangements for her and converts the Dingle van into a bedroom. After tempting Peg inside, Zak and his clan hotfoot it to The Woolpack for a swift pint. But as they return home under cover of darkness they are horrified to discover the van is ablaze. More trouble is brewing between the Sugden boys as Robert continues to argue that Andy isn't entitled to any of the money from the sale of Jack's land. He lets nothing get in his way and takes great delight in forcing Katie to go home after barging in on her and Andy. Jack is concerned by the feud and desperate to resolve the situation.

    Robert and Andy are concerned that they have pushed Jack a little too far when he mysteriously vanishes into the night and fails to return home in the morning. Diane is disturbed to hear of Jack's disappearance and tells the boys that they should be ashamed of themselves as their constant arguing undoubtedly drove Jack to disappear. Andy comes up with a brain wave and suggests that they should see if Jack has returned to the old farmhouse. However, they are disturbed by the scene that awaits them. She apologises but Jason is in no mood for listening and their future together looks like it could be on the rocks. Over at the holiday park, Nicola continues to meddle in Maggie's life and influences Jess. Phil insists that she is harmless but Maggie can see straight through her devious ways and gives Phil an earbashing when he takes a risk and joins Nicola and Jess for a drink.

Maggie comes across the pair and is not best pleased to find Phil in a state of undress talking to her arch enemy. With blood pounding in her ears, Maggie warns Nicola to keep her hands off her man. Ashley mistakenly assumes that Bernice feels that he is trying to take over looking after their baby.

With the seeds of doubt set firmly in Maggie's mind, Nicola sneaks in to her chalet, and plants her earring by Maggie and Phil's bed. Ashley is pleased when Cynthia offers to look after Gabrielle, so that he can spend the evening with Bernice.
