The swashbuckling Lucien wants to maintain the Corsican traditions, including the bloody vendetta. Louis, however, wants to change and goes to Paris to work laws to outlaw the vendetta. The feud leaves murder, strife, and broken hearts in its wake, until finally, after the tragic death of Louis in a duel, peace comes to the island.
