Despite resigning, Rebecka continues investigating the case, focusing on the victim's father, who was eaten by a bear. Meanwhile, Mella and her team discover the murder weapon in the barn of one of the victim's lovers.

Mella leads an investigation into the drowning of a young diver trapped under ice for a whole winter. But the water in her lungs doesn't match the river in which she was found.

Rebecka plans her move back to Stockholm but reconsiders when she and Krister discover the body of a woman brutally murdered. The only witness is the victim's young grandson, now alone and too traumatized to speak.

When Rebecka think she's getting closer to solve the murder mystery, she has to go further into the shadows of her childhood past that she has struggled hard to leave behind. At the same time she is beginning to doubt as to where she belongs.

The discovery of another body and the unearthing of an old Nazi airplane near the mountain lake provide Mella and Rebecka more clues to the truth. Rebecka has misgivings about her life with Mans as she grows closer to police dog handler Krister.

When a friend from her childhood passes away, Rebecka returns to her home in the outskirts of Kiruna. But as it turns out, everything is not what it seems.

Still recovering from a psychological breakdown after her encounter with Mildred's murderer, Rebecka takes a job as a public prosecutor in Kiruna. Meanwhile, Mella investigates the death of an unidentified young woman found in an ice-fishing trailer and asks Rebecka for help.

With a main suspect in custody, Rebecka takes the liberty to interrogate him; a faux-pas that gets her removed from the case.

After her unconventional methods get her fired, Rebecka sinks into another deep depression. But a shocking revelation about one of the mining owners puts her back on the case.

When the Bolagshotellet is demolished as part of the relocation of Kiruna, the body is found after Linn who disappeared 16 years earlier. Sven-Erik has never been able to drop the case and now sees his chance to prove that Linn's ex-husband, Jesper, is the killer.

Rebecka and Sven-Erik struggle to find sufficient evidence against Jesper. At the same time, Rebecka has come across her own investigation file from the social and is now closer to her own story than ever before.

Rebecka returns to Kiruna and her crippling colleagues. Mella is struggling to be a good mother to her daughter who has now escaped. Tommy struggles to be a good cop, but carries a secret that risks stealing everything.

When a young man dies of an overdose, the police do everything to stop the spread of drugs among the youth of the area. Rebecka is in Stockholm and in Kiruna the case quickly becomes personal for Anna Maria Mella and Tommy.

The body of a woman is discovered in her car, and in the back seat there's a frozen infant; signs of trauma points to foul play.

Krister's right to be involved in the investigation is being questioned, while the violent revenge campaigns in the Sami village are escalating. When the events are traced to an old family feud, no one is left free of suspicion.

The police station in Kiruna receives an odd alarm. A quad bike has been seen dragging a reindeer to death and then dumping it on Jon Åppa's farm. Rebecka takes up the case, but von Post warns that the issue may be sensitive.
