Minnie Goode and Lauren Armstrong are best friends and roommates who are at risk of losing their deposit and apartment due to their pets "marking their territory" on their carpet. It's become a stained and smelly eyesore that has to be removed if the girls want to stay. They have only a couple of days to replace the disgusting carpet with hard wood floors before the landlord comes to inspect. Problems plague these two LA gals as they attempt to lay hard wood floors themselves. Can they avoid eviction and get to stay in the apartment they love?

The Goode Project

Roommates Barbara Morris and Cindy Higby are looking to transform an unused room into an art studio perfect for their paintings. The only time they have to build the art studio is when the rest of their house is being renovated. Barbara and Cindy are inexperienced builders, but are determined to get their dream art studio up and running themselves, without any input from the constructor workers who are adding on a new level to their home. Can the women handle a major renovation themselves, or will the workers have to save the day?

The Morris Project

Anna and Brad have just a couple of days to build a large deck before a house warming party, which is being held in their backyard. With holes in the ground and tempers flaring, will this couple's dream deck come to fruition?

The England Project

Shae Hinson has a major issue on his hands. He was tired of his kitchen, so he ripped out all of the cabinets, the stove and sink. The only problem is that Katie, Shae's wife, didn't know about the "project". After weeks of pleading with Shae to get the kitchen done, she and the kids have moved into his parent's house to get away from the mess. Determined to get his family under the same roof, Shae's decided that now's the time to finish the kitchen with Katie's help. So each morning she drives over, helps Shae and then leaves at night to take care of the kids. There's windows breaking, gas leaks, cabinets breaking and other calamities in store for Shae and Katie as they try to get their kitchen fixed.

The Hinson Project

Cave and Jen live in an older home that was once a doctor's building, housing a cardiac clinic and a dentist's office. Aside from wanting to install new countertops, polish old floors and strip existing cabinets, Cave wants to run a beer line from his refrigerator downstairs to his kitchen on the first floor. This proves to be more of a challenge than they ever anticipated, but Cave is determined to finish the one project closest to his heart ... the beer line. Watch and see one home renovation that turns out to be a rather sobering experience.

The Wilson Project

Jamie and Kim Biddle decide to completely renovate their family room in the dead of winter. The 60 year old colonial home they bought from the original owners needs a lot more work than anticipated; they've basically had to gut most of it to the studs. The family room has holes in the wall and floor, and was previously only heated by a wall space heater. They're camping out at his mother's house, with 2 small children and mom is looking forward to getting her life back. An extended renovation finally becomes urgent, when the first winter heating bill arrives. over $300. They plan to pull out a large window, reframe it, run HVAC to the room, and hang dry wall in four days. Jamie is a painter and a carpenter and he's in uncharted waters on this project but he's not worried. On the other hand, Kim has some anxiety about this unknown expedition, especially when it requires going down into a creepy crawl space. Watch how bad weather, wrong measurements and extremely tired homeowners collide to form the perfect storm of renovation.

The Biddle Job

Geff and Tiina Vitale have a home just down the road from the Jersey Shore. They have an old deck attached to their house and they want to try to salvage as much as possible. Also, the Vitales would like to rework the deck in the dead of winter, so they can enjoy the renovated deck in the spring and summer. Geff's idea is to detach the deck from the house, knock out every other plank, save the remaining ones but add new wood to create a sturdier, bigger deck. Geff and Tiina have a newborn, and Tiina's limited with the amount of work she can contribute, so Geff recruits his best friend, Jay. Jay, however, is the last one to know that he's in it for the long run. Aside from the deck being a bit of a bear to restructure, below-freezing temperatures only add to the difficulty of the job. This is one show that truly tests friendship during the renovation process.

The Vitale Job

Tyler and Amy Stanton are a young couple about to have their first child. Tyler has procrastinated on renovating their master bathroom until now, a month before the baby's due. With timing already an issue, everything goes wrong for this couple who wants a more spacious bathroom. Tyler thinks that he can handle everything including soldering the plumbing until the fixtures catch on fire. There are drywall mishaps, a mix-up on tile quantity, plus two broken vanities. But, things turn serious when Amy gets sick and winds up in the hospital, causing jeopardy in finishing the renovation.

The Stanton Job

Simon and Christi dreamed of living in a warehouse beside a body of water. The one they finally found literally has a river running through the property but is completely empty: devoid of walls, kitchen, and insulation. Little by little they are building their dream home, inside the warehouse, but with two small kids they are ready for a master bath. Combining new materials and some they have saved for this day from their architectural salvage business, the plan is grand and the time frame is tight. They want to raise the floor, frame walls, install a sink, shower, toilet, lighting fixtures and new windows in just five days. Luckily Christi has secured five days of daycare and lots of help from friends and family for child care in the evening hours. This well laid plan starts to erode when their daughter gets sick on day two and can't go to daycare. The plan erosion turns into an all out explosion when their second child falls ill. Watch these two try and accomplish some part of their plan for a master bathroom with two sick kids right in the middle of the work. Bring some earplugs!

The Whiteley Project

Araceli Kopiloff bought an old building that once housed a mortgage company. Araceli's dream is to convert the space into a chic little cafe/boutique called, Rue La Fayette. Since contractors told her she'd be spending an estimated $180,000 to renovate the building, Araceli decided to take a bite out of the budget by recruiting two friends to help her turn the building's foyer into a cozy welcoming area for guests. One of Araceli's friend is a passionate Argentine chef named Natalia ... the other friend is the café's PR director, Starr. Their goal ... tear out a wall to open up the space, rip out existing tile in the foyer and replace it with more updated tiles and create a cool little counter out of a pair of old doors. Add to the madness, the women only have three days to accomplish their goal since they're hosting a preview party on Monday night.

The Rue Lafayette Project

Haven and Jessica Fuller decide to completely gut and renovate their kitchen. Updating the 80's style room includes making it more functional for a family of five. Haven is fairly handy, but this is Jessica's first attempt at renovation. She, however she doesn't hesitate to challenge Haven's logic here and there. Their plan is to tear out their entire kitchen, replace the floor, the cabinets and countertops, and expand their kitchen by removing a bathroom. Problems plague the Fullers when a one day demolition turns into a three day nightmare. The HVAC unit in the wall compromises their design plans and an extremely complicated cabinet installation almost does the family in. Even with their 9 year old son Max chipping in, after 4 days the kitchen is still torn up, and only the cabinets are done.

The Fuller Project

Jana Schmieding and Abby Lovett own an apartment in New York City. They want to protect their investment and raise the value of their home so they're taking a long weekend to renovate their kitchen. They both teach at the same public school and their principal has given them Friday off to get the job done. But renovating in the city is not easy. From getting supplies and tools to the site to their lack of construction knowledge, everything seems to stand in their way. Before its all said and done, they have to ask for an extra day off and battle a snow storm as they try to complete the job. They almost complete the kitchen but it takes a couple extra weekends to get it 100 percent complete.

The Schmiedling Project

Robert Hopkins and his son, Grayson, own a houseboat that leaks. Robert, a modern day pirate, is a tour guide in Charleston, South Carolina and has already let one summer go by without any work on the boat. His plan is to fix up the boat as a surprise for his son, including the leaky roof, but has no idea where the leak problem starts. After pulling down the ceiling Robert finds good news and bad. The structure of the house boat is in better shape than he thought but this job is going to require two people if any progress is to be made in three days. Grayson agrees to help his dad as long as it doesn't get in the way of the fraternity parties planned for the weekend. Robert, with occasional help from Grayson embarks on a weekend project in the ocean which starts with a good surprise and then descends into rising tides pulling the boat loose, a barge lifting off the top of the boat, gale force winds and torrential rains, all while trying to have a little father son time...AARG!

The Hopkins Project

Aaron and Darcy, their two children, and Darcy's mom, Hiroko all live in a quaint North Carolina home. Five people in a small house can seem crowded at times, especially in the kitchen, where both Aaron and Hiroko love to cook. The problem is that their kitchen has seen better days; it's dark, cramped, out of date, just plan ugly and they're tired of it. Both Aaron and Darcy have really busy schedules, and want to take advantage of Darcy's Spring Break to finally renovate their horrible kitchen. However, this gives them only a week to gut the entire kitchen and add new walls, ceilings, floors, cabinets, countertops, electrical outlets, and appliances. While Hiroko watches the kids, Aaron and Darcy run into all sorts of issues in this kitchen overhaul. From delays in getting the cabinets, to arguments over ice and trash, to drywall disasters, and a missing child, this renovation proves to be a bigger headache then they bargained for. Especially when a huge electrical problem is discovered, causing Aaron and Darcy to reflect and realize that this renovation saved their lives. This is one renovation that's truly life changing.

The Slyter Project

Ian and Mabel Williams live in Preston, MD. They own a beautiful farm house, built in the 1900's. Needless to say, they have a lot of work to do to it. They have renovated their kitchen together and are now ready to totally redo their living room. They want to make the room more efficient and update its look by replacing the old walls with drywall and adding insulation. They also want to tear out the big window in their living room that's driving up their heating bill. While Ian has some experience with home improvement, neither of them has ever installed windows. They need to do their project quickly since both of them have to get back to work. They're allocating 5,000 dollars to the project.

The Williams Project

Marcel and Daryl Fingers are a busy couple with demanding jobs, leaving them with no time to renovate their bland, boring master bath. The room is despised so much that they no longer use it, instead opting to use their small, cramped guest bathroom. After months of using their tiny guest bathroom, they're finally ready to renovate the master bath. Taking a couple days off of work, they plan to take out the shower, the walls, and countertop and infuse the bathroom with their style; contemporary Asian, or contasian, as they refer to it. From the beginning, Marcel is forced to wait on Daryl. Whether he's doing his morning routine, answering work phone calls, or having to go into work, Marcel learns that she can do renovation projects just as well Daryl can. Especially, when he hurts his shoulder and wants to quit. She's the one who won't give up, and completes the bathroom herself, with little guidance from a friend, as Daryl heads back into the office.

The Fingers Project

Tim and Annie Lucas are desperately in need of a play room for their kids. Their craftsman style home is getting filled with toys as their girls get older and it's time for a solution. Luckily there is a spare room on the back of the house, but it is an eyesore to say the least and needs a lot of work. This renovation begins with renting a sandblaster to take the paint off a brick wall and follows our couple through tearing out a new door opening, bringing the door home on top of the car, tearing out carpet, using fabric for the wall covering, and installing a new laminate floor, all the while Tim dragging his feet and Annie cracking the whip to get this room into shape.

The Lucas Project

Lori and Marshall Mitchell have purchased a fixer-upper in Austin, Texas. Problem is, both Marshall and Lori are wheelchair users and the home they've purchased is not wheelchair friendly. On top of their priority list is to convert the existing master bathroom into a space that both Lori and Marshall can easily access. Since the job's going to involve a lot of work which neither Lori or Marshall can do, they've recruited their son-in-law Adam to help. However, none of them are too familiar with plumbing and in a master bathroom that's going to be gutted to its bare bones, that could be a problem!

The Mitchell Project

Stephen and Pomai Futral are not happy with their kitchen. With their second child arriving any day, pregnant Pomai refuses to raise another child in their non-functional, mid 80's kitchen. Although Pomai considers herself a handywoman, Stephen is an accountant and is not used to the exhausting physical labor. They plan to gut their entire kitchen and install new cabinets, flooring, ceiling panels, and move the ceiling fan. But their renovation has to happen fast since Pomai is due to go into labor soon. Stephen works very hard for his "queen" Pomai who has taken on the role of project manager. They hit a few snags in the process but eventually they complete Pomai's dream kitchen.

The Futral Project

Charlene Brown is trying to renovate her fixer-upper home in Pasadena, California. However, she has run out of money and has had to put the renovations on hold. Her plan is to move some roommates in so that Charlene can make some cash. But there is a problem: only one roommate would have access to the bathroom. To fix this, Charlene has decided to create a hallway allowing both roommates access to the bathroom. But it's a rocky ride when Charlene is completely unprepared and her friend Stephanie is over dealing with all the nonsense. The rocky ride takes a nosedive when a fed up Stephanie calls it quits ending not only the renovation, but their friendship too.

The Brown Project

Mauricio De Lama recently bought a house with his girlfriend, Janette. She's decorated the entire house, leaving Mauricio living amongst a sea of pretty pillows and flowers. Needless to say, he's desperate to have his own 'man space' free of all the girlie decorations. Mauricio has enlisted his buddy Han Lee, to transform his boring, old garage into a 'Man Only Zone.' However, neither Mauricio nor Han Lee have ever lifted a hammer, let alone used a power tool. In fact, they have to call their friend Mike to borrow some tools, and his truck to haul the supplies needed. From the start, these guys don't have a clue about home renovation, and it shows. From insulation and drywall goofs to assistance on window framing over the phone, these guys prove that it's sometimes worthwhile to know a little about home renovation.

The DeLama Project

Steven and Betsy Finn are a young couple living in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Betsy, an award-winning professional photographer, operates her studio out of their basement. It's a barren space with nothing more than some backdrops hanging on one wall, and a seating area with miss-matched couches against another. Wanting to make the space more client-friendly, they plan to insulate the basement floor and walls, lay plywood subflooring, frame the walls, install drywall, update the electrical system, add new lighting, and lay laminate flooring, all in just five days. They start out making decent time, until a violent storm knocks out their power, forcing them to stop work earlier than anticipated. The setbacks become a recurring theme as the couple battles scheduling conflicts, unfamiliar tools, and hunger-fueled blowups throughout the renovation. After five days of backbreaking work, not to mention blowing through their budget, Steven and Betsy finish less than half of the renovation and they soon realizes that this renovation is going to longer than either of them ever expected.

The Finn Project

Kelvin and Charlene Wiebe just bought their first home, and it's the definition of a fixer-upper. In fact, the kitchen is so bad that they cannot move in until it's completely gutted and rebuilt. To make matters worse, the end of the month is only 4 days away and if they don't finish on time, they'll be stuck paying another month's rent at their old place on top of the new mortgage. As the renovation begins, the Wiebes battle setbacks ranging from mice nests to rotten sewage pipes leaking down their wall. As they near the end of the job, a granite countertop can't be cut in time and they end up missing their deadline.

The Wiebe Project

After Debbie's husband passed away 3 years ago she decided to buy a1920's Georgian Colonial home to give herself a new start. Her home has tons of character, but just as many cracks. With Debbie's list of renovations, she enlists the help of her friend Wanda and decides to tackle the hardest project first - the sunroom. Their problems begin almost immediately as they try using a heavy concrete saw and then struggle to lift a 300lb door into the 2nd story room. On the final day with the rain rolling in and the sunroom open to the elements, Debbie comes to the realization that her project is going to take more than just a few days. It's going to take weeks and the renovation is put on pause.

The Debbie Project

Kody and Elisabeth Powell moved from the snowy banks of Utah to the unbearable summertime temps of Austin so that Kody can attend the University of Texas. The couple bought the house with the goal of renovating everything in sight-starting with the kitchen. Almost every surface in the kitchen is painted blue, so they set out to turn their self described "blue nightmare" into an updated space complete with new appliances, new flooring, new shelving, and of course, a new color. With only a few days before Kody begins classes, the rush is on for the couple to essentially gut their kitchen and start all over. Between a pesky microwave that refuses to come off the wall, a lost receipt that derails an entire day's work, a two-year old who craves constant attention, and the couple's lack of professional expertise, Kody and Elisabeth begin to seriously doubt they'll ever finish in time. But with a lot of focus and determination, Kody and Elisabeth finish with no time to spare-their work culminating in an ultra-modern space the family can only describe as "awesome."

The Powell Job

Chris and Patty Sebolt love their150-year-old home full of open spaces, historic details and charm. The only thing they're not crazy about is their small first floor bathroom with an entryway barely big enough for Chris to fit through. They were in desperate need of a renovation so they began moving the bathrooms outer wall, pushing the staircase back and expanding the doorway. Between endless interruptions from their children, remnants of mice living in their walls, and trying to figure out how to build an entirely new staircase, the Sebolts have plenty of setbacks. But in the end, they push through and end up with a bathroom that has plenty of space and lots of charm to fit in with the rest of their home.

The Seabolt Job

Stephen and Pam Cichon are an eclectic couple living in a 1920's pink stucco castle in St. Petersburg, Florida. Built to match the house, the garage is in desperate shape. The roof leaks like crazy, and the water damage has caused the support beams to bow and buckle. In other words, it could collapse at anytime. Even though Stephen has plenty of experience with this type of work, nothing can prepare him for the follies that ensue. From nearly collapsing through the roof and onto the concrete below, to some hired help that can't seem to live up to his standards, Stephen's renovation is full of mishaps. With his back feeling worse every day, Stephen is determined to push through-even if it means he can't move once the job is finished.

The Cichon Project

Luke and Sarah Allen live in a nice home in a nice neighborhood, but the house was built in the 1950s when rooms were small and choppy. This is an issue for the Allens because Luke is a youth leader at a local high school and they need an open space to hold meetings with the kids. So Luke and Sarah decide to find a solution on their own and begin renovating, starting by knocking down the wall that separates the two rooms they want to combine. After days spent disagreeing on the safest way to take down their load-baring wall and trying to figure out how to lift a 700 pound beam to replace it with, the Allens finally end up with the space and comfort they needed.

The Allen Job

Matt Martin has spent countless hours and thousands of dollars renovating his fixer-upper home. Only one thing stands in the way of its completion, the unsightly old roof. Not only is the roof an off-center eyesore, it is also full of leaks that threaten to ruin the rest of the work he has completed inside. That's why Matt enlists the help of his big brother Casey and together they begin taking the old roof down piece by piece. They start off strong, but when the brothers begin to encounter unforeseen obstacles like unstable, rotted wood and damaged tarpaper, they are faced with the biggest obstacle of all, each other.

The Martin Job, Part II

Vicki and Mark Teed live in a palatial spread in a small town just outside Ann Arbor, Michigan. They have grown tired of their current master bath and with just a handful of vacation days to work, Mark believes he can deliver on Vicki's dream of a completely updated and welcoming master bath. What Mark hasn't counted on, however, is Vicki's desire to help. Mark is a mechanical engineer by trade, who is also well versed in home improvement, but Vicki has no experience on any level of home improvement. From demoing walls that were meant to be spared, to breaking every tool, tile, and toaster she touches, Vicki just can't seem to catch a break during the renovation. And therefore, neither can Mark. With the project just over half complete, and no vacation time left for either of them, Vicki and Mark decide to call the renovation to a halt while they still have even half a bathroom standing.

The Teed Job

Jon Sheard is a family man with a passion for playing music. But now that Jon's music room is right next door to the newest edition of the Sheard home, their 1-year-old son Alec, Jon's loud jam sessions have been put on hold. He decided the best solution would be to renovate the detached garage and convert it into a space where he can rock out without waking up the baby. With help from Jon's brother Kevin, the renovation begins. They tear out old cabinetry, install a new door, but right when they start making progress Kevin's wife goes into labor leaving Jon at a stand still. With the clock ticking Jon's dad steps in to fill Kevin's shoes, but their father and son battle between old technology and new slows the project down. In the end, Kevin comes back to help finish the job and Jon's rock room is complete.

The Sheard Job

Josh Hissong is an accomplished kitchen designer living in Spokane, Washington. So naturally when he bought his dream fixer-upper home, he decided to start his renovations in the kitchen. With help from interior design student and friend, Genevieve, this project was just destined for greatness...right? Setbacks ranging from broken windows to using the only kitchen floor-plan to start a fire after the power goes out plague this project from the very beginning, bringing Josh to the early realization that this renovation is going to be anything but easy.

The Hissong Job

Vincent Schilling shares a small home in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with his wife, Delores, and their always stylishly dressed miniature Chihuahua, Sophia. Delores is out of town for a few days, so Vincent has concocted a plan to renovate their unsightly kitchen as surprise for her when she returns. He's solicited the help of his mother-in-law, Sharon, for his culinary facelift. Working with a budget of $8000, Vincent and Sharon plan to gut the kitchen entirely and start from scratch. The only problem is, neither Vince nor Sharon have one iota of experience with home renovations. Thanks to some pesky plumbing, uncooperative tools, and lots of heavy lifting, Vince and Sharon are constantly under the gun to finish before Delores arrives home. To make matters worse, minutes before Delores is due to walk through the door, the duo suffers a setback that leaves Vincent fearing that, if he doesn't finish the project before she walks in, he'll be spending the rest of his life in Sophia's tiny little dog house.

The Schilling Job

Kevin and Rachel Rich live in a home they purchased six years ago from his parents. In fact, Kevin grew up in the house, and together, he and Rachel share it with their three young boys - all of which are under the age of 10. But for all the home's great memories, the space is entirely unsuited for the needs of the Rich family. The couple's plan to make their home more livable: tear down a wall separating the kitchen and dining room, build a faux beam, and install a new front entryway. The overall effect, Kevin and Rachel hope, will not only increase the value of their home, but greatly improve its flow. As the renovation begins, the Rich's battle a broken trailer, job interruptions, their kids, and eventually, each other. As they near the end of their renovation, the Rich's finally succeed in installing their new front entryway just as the weather dips below freezing and nightfall sets in.

The Rich Job

Nancy McFarland and her daughter, Melissa, have just bought a dilapidated Victorian home in Georgetown, Kentucky with the plans to renovate and move in as soon as possible. The only problem is that Nancy, a real estate agent, can sell a home with the best of them, but she has no clue how to work on one and Melissa has even less experience. Disregarding their lack of skills, they decide to start their renovation by tearing out the ceiling and replacing all the windows in a huge turret overlooking the front of the house. But just as quickly as they begin, they find themselves overwhelmed by dangerous working conditions, intense physical labor, and a handful of windows that refuse to cooperate. In the end, they are forced to return to work with about half of the job complete and are unable to move in.

The McFarland Job

Potential is what architect Cheryl Obert saw in her 1925 Craftsman-era home when she purchased it more than four years ago. With the help of her partner, Jess Heidorn, the couple went right to work, completely remodeling their home's upstairs bathroom. This project, however, not only took months longer than expected, but also included a few miscues and missteps along the way.
