Betty and Bert receive a shock when Betty announces a new arrival!

Puzzled by the fact that Wally and Lily always appear to have money, yet never do any work, Bert discovers they live on social security — and that it's not easy to climb aboard that particular gravy train.

It's taken Betty several years of hard courting to get a wedding ring; it's taken her just 7 weeks of marriage to lose it. But the ring must be somewhere in the caravan...

Betty's mother visits the caravan she is now sharing with her workshy husband, Bert

Betty decides that if she and Bert are ever to save enough money to buy a house, she must become the breadwinner. Unfortunately Bert is as incompetent as a house-wife as he is at everything else.

Bert confidently predicts that broiler rabbits will solve all his financial problems and bring the maximum of profit with the minimum of effort. Betty doesn't share his enthusiasm - but the arrival of a boxful of baby bunnies melts her resistance...

Bert enters a competition to find the country's Ideal Newlyweds - and Betty nearly realises her life-long ambition of spending a proper honeymoon in the sun.

Betty's belief that she deserves better than a caravan home is underlined when Bert and Wally quarrel about a dustbin. With mice and ants as her unlikely allies, and after a night spent sleeping in the car, Betty looks set to win the battle - but who will win the war?

Bert and Betty Jones return home late to find that a stranger has broken into their caravan. They understandably take strongarm action, but the bearded intruder resists all attempts at eviction.

Bert decides to take matters into his own hands, as the caravan site experiences issues with hot water.

Betty and Lily issue orders to their work-shy spouses to find decent jobs.

Lily has kicked Wally out, so Betty moves in with Lily and Wally moves in with Bert.

Betty comes up with the idea that emigration could be the answer to their issues, though Bert is not so confident.

Wally and Lily have a new set of neighbours, as a city folk move into the caravan next door. However things are never what they seem.

Jeremy and Susan are invited to a upper class wedding. However, Jeremy is unable to afford a new dress for Susan, leading to Susan asking Lily for help to make one.

Jeremy's honesty is put to the test, when Wally and Lily offer him a carcass of meat which fell off a lorry.

A potential employer invites Jeremy and Susan for dinner, Jeremy sees this as an opportunity to move up in life, trading the caravan for a house. Susan then returns the compliment which leads to a memorable evening.

Susan looks to stimulate her and Jeremy's love life, but has second thoughts when the Briggs have similar plans.

A troublesome chicken causes a nightly disturbance in the caravan park.

A batch of stolen eggs find their way to Lily and Wally, bringing along with them a lot of trouble.

Jeremy agrees to look after his Managing Directors dog over the weekend, bringing more stress for Susan.

The caravan park sees heavy snowfall, which cuts them off from the outside world. As supplies dwindle the Crichton Jones and Briggs form an uneasy alliance.

Jeremy asks Wally if he can use the car, to have Susan drop him off and pick him up from the station. Jeremy offers to pay some of the running expenses for the car which Wally agrees to. However, there is a small issue with the plan.

Jeremy decides that they should keep a hen so he can have a breakfast egg. Wally and Lily oblige and find Jeremy a hen, however the hen is rather old and well past her prime.

Tempers fray over the use of the communal clothesline.
