Celebrities and Practical Jokes

The Australia Zoo in Queensland is at a crucial turning point: In the future, it will also be home to large, exotic animals from all over the world. Steve Irwin and his team face a new challenge. But there's still some time before the first tiger cubs and elephants arrive. The Australia Zoo staff are taking the opportunity to learn about the treatment and care of wild animals at other zoos.

Future Footprints

To become a true animal tamer, you have to go through a tough school of training. Steve Irwin caught his first crocodile at the age of nine under his father's guidance. Now he's passing on his years of experience to the next generation. In the tropical wilderness of North Queensland, the young men are initiated into the secrets of crocodile hunting.

Wild Boys, Wild Crocs

Crocodile catching, so much for being a man's job! In this episode of the documentary series, it's up to the women. In the outback of Northern Australia, Steve Irwin shows a team of women from the Australia Zoo how to capture and release wild crocodiles for research purposes.

Girls Can Catch Crocs Too

After the men and women have had their turn, it's now the children's turn: Bindi is also going to crocodile school. In this episode of the popular series, Steve Irwin's daughter learns how to catch crocodiles under professional guidance.

Almost every day, there are new babies born in one of the enclosures at Australia Zoo in Queensland: from the black tiger otter and the mulga snake to the cockatoos and emus. It's always breathtaking to watch these different species raise their young. But in this episode of "Crocodile Hunter's Diary," the happiness of parents is clouded: two baby Tasmanian devils have mysteriously fallen ill.

Matters of Life and Death

The Australia Zoo in Queensland plans to focus more on Southeast Asian species in the future. Steve Irwin is particularly interested in orangutans. This time, he's visiting the Singapore Zoo, known for the world's most successful orangutan breeding program. Jurong Bird Park is equally famous. There, Steve goes swimming with the penguins.

Everyone knows that: Some days, everything just goes wrong. In this episode, the Australian Zoo in Queensland is hit hard: The aftermath of a cyclone wreaks all sorts of havoc in the zoo, a mysterious disease wreaks havoc on the kangaroos, and then an accident occurs with dire consequences.

Days of Disaster

The time has come: The new Crocoseum, a show arena with a capacity of 5,000 spectators, is finally finished. The central pool is connected by a canal system to the crocodile enclosures, from which the animals swim in for their "performances." In today's episode, we experience the exciting dress rehearsal, in which Wes serves as live bait.

They don't even have to be on one of their daily rescue missions: the zoo's little "darlings" aren't without their fair share of trouble. Today's episode takes a look behind the scenes of everyday zoo life.
