While on a turbulent and unsettling airline flight, Darren teases his anxious girlfriend Chloe while recording her on his phone, as something inexplicable happens outside his porthole window.

When a plane collides mid-flight and crashes close to the Picco farm, teenager Jack Picco has his video camera on record and captures the fiery crash, while his upset parents Anne and Bruce and nonverbal sister Amy try to make sense of the unusual object that has smashed through their roof.

After witnessing their terrified neighbours and the crash on the local news, Jack sneaks outside to the pond with his camera to record a startling discovery. He hears strange noises in the barn and urges his father Bruce to investigate.

In the barn, Bruce and Jack deal with a terrifying discovery. Unexpected guests show up at nightfall and Anne and Bruce are forced to hand over the metal object that destroyed their roof.

As night falls, tensions mount between Anne and Bruce. Amy grows increasingly agitated. Bruce moves a large package from the barn to the basement of their home, to Anne's horror. Jack's camera zooms in on the thing locked behind the basement room door.

Anne prepares to drive with the kids to her sister's while Amy watches a disturbing event through her bedroom window. The power goes out and Bruce and Anne, trying to escape the entity outside in the darkness, witness a phenomenon they cannot explain.

Anne and Bruce frantically board up the windows and doors while Amy tries to communicate with the thing in the basement. Jack witnesses a horrific event, and Anne and Jack try to escape.
