In the PVDE dungeons, suspected of subversive activities, the casapiano Roberto Moisés - father and devout spouse -, is interrogated and tortured by officer Paulo.

At the same time that Rose is enticed by the British, Maria João is going to Porto because of an assault on the Mascarenhas branch. There, her best friend Rose introduces Maria João to Siegfried Brenner.
