The night after earning its second Emmy Award for Best Reality Competition Show, The Voice returns to Universal Studios' Stage 12 for its ninth season premiere. Returning host Carson Daly introduces Coaches Pharrell Williams (coach of Season 8 winner Sawyer Fredericks), Gwen Stefani, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. The four superstar coaches take the stage for a medley of each other's hits.

The battles and steals return as the coaches begin the painful process of cutting their teams down.

In the Live Semi-Finals, the top nine artists perform live in front of coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, and Pharrell Williams for America's votes.

Each coach's remaining artists are paired against a teammate once more, but each select their own song to perform individually. Rihanna will serve as a key adviser and be on hand to work with all of the coaches and their teams as they prepare.
