The rest of the team also learn that Helen is alive and on the other side of the Anomaly, and so Cutter is forced to go through and confront the woman his wife has become.

Cutter and the team soon learn that the true culprit is not the spiders, but a giant centipede, and they are sent in a race against time to get the centipede's venom after it poisons Stephen. Meanwhile, Connor gets thrown off the team after telling two of his friends about the Anomalies, and attempts to earn the team's faith back in the fight against the giant centipede. At the same time, Cutter's suspicions that Helen is alive on the other sides of the Anomalies increases.

Charming and eloquent, John is a preacher with a unique perspective on the new world, but the family's opinion of him is split. Is he as innocent as he seems, or does he have more sinister motives? A woman in John's group is pregnant, and Abby allows her to stay until the baby is born. Anya fears that she will be forced to reveal that she is a doctor if there are any problems with the birth. Worse than that, she picks up on some unusual remarks by John which make her concerned for the group's safety.
