In order to safely return Ririha to her nation, Kaina goes with her to assist their climb down the spire tree, knowing he will not be able to return to his village again. Their travel goes smoothly, but the Valghians were waiting for Ririha at the base.

Hiroki and Tsukasa are living and working at Kenji’s scuba diving shop-cum-bar. The pair hope to one day emulate Kenji and open a place of their own. But it turns out Kenji has also been doing some shady jobs on the side. When he starts acting strangely, Hiroki and Tsukasa take action.

Hiroki is delighted that he and Tsukasa have managed to open a store of their own. His joy is short-lived, however, as Katsuragi soon whisks Tsukasa away on another job. His mission this time is to take control of Chinese Mafia member Inui in order to assassinate a certain VIP. However, manipulating Inui’s memories turns out not to be straightforward.

One day, Natsume finds a yokai named Kagejawan running around near his home, which he soon learns means disaster is about to strike.

An old classmate Yuriko, remembers her time watching Natsume and how he was a little weird. A clingbug from Natsume's past reminds him of the time he spent running from a youkai with a grudge.

Natsume receives a letter from Matoba, an exorcist whom he's had unpleasant dealings with in the past. The world of exorcists is a dangerous place lately, and Matoba wants Natsume's help. Natsume wants to refuse, but Matoba threatens to reveal Natsume's powers to his adopted family, which would spell the end of his peaceful life.

Natsume has come down with a cold after adventuring in the hills. All of his friends, both human and youkai, do their best to make him feel better. As he lies in bed, he begins to realize how much the people around him care for him, and how valuable the bonds he's established are.

Natsume is forced to help rebuild a tiny house that's a residence for a goddess.

Bisco and Jabi continue their journey through Touhoku in search of Sabikui, the Rust-Eater, a mushroom said to cleanse away any rust. Milo also realizes that if he could cure his sister, Pawoo, if he had this Rust-Eater. Meanwhile, the governor of Imihama, Kurokawa, burns with an unusual obsession with killing Bisco.

The Valghians capture Ririha so they can strongarm the Atlandians into surrendering. The Atlandian soldiers engage in the battle to rescue Ririha and Kaina, but aren't successful. Ririha manages to free Kaina while she remains in captivity.

After learning of the King of Atland's decision to not rescue Ririha and instead go to war with Valghia, it's up to Kaina and Yaona to go save Ririha. Without a means to travel the sea, they must figure out an alternative way to get there.

Opting to stay hidden inside a box within the ship, Kaina, Ririha and Yaona find themselves offloaded to the mobile fortress of Valghia. Now, they must somehow come up with a way to return to Atland, but Valghians are hot on their tails.

After saving an innocent girl from being executed, Kaina, Ririha and Yaona are given a small boat to escape. Unfortunately, without any means to navigate the boat accurately, they are unsure if they're heading in the right direction.

Faye teams up with Spike and Jet to track down a gang of space activists that plans on turning the human population into monkeys!

Spurred by a cryptic email, Jet goes looking for an old friend, but finds his daughter – and a mysterious sun stone – instead.
