The reverend of Bud’s megachurch asks Bud to lure Ernesto, the town’s biggest church donor, away from the local Mexican Catholic church, to help fill their coffers. Ernesto is seduced by the glitziness of the church, and the reverend schemes to bring over all the other Mexican residents by “Hispandering,” to Bud’s horror. Bud and Ernesto team up to restore the status quo, but their plan backfires.

Jane is excited for her first book tour and brings Xo along for fun, but Alba decides last minute that she is going as well. Things take an unexpected turn at their first stop which makes all three ponder what they should do. Rafael and Rogelio's attempts to take care of Mateo while Jane is away hits a bump, but ultimately might have made things better between them. Meanwhile, Petra thinks she has finally gotten a handle on the hotel, until a new problem arises.

When Jane is offered a book deal, she thinks her prayers have been answered and debates quitting her awful publishing job. After suffering from panic attacks, Jane is ready to get to the root of the problem. Rogelio and Xo are working on fixing their friendship until Xo finds out that Rogelio has been lying to everyone all this time. Petra is running damage control on the Marbella’s reputation after a grisly discovery is found on the property. Meanwhile, Rafael is ready to be involved again in the Mirabella and his first order of business is finding the perfect person to manage the hotel lounge.

When Jane and Rafael realize that the uncertain state of their relationship is stressing out Mateo, they decide that they need to make a decision. Petra is on the outs with Jane and Rafael after the Luisa fiasco so she tries to figure out a way to get back into their good graces. Meanwhile, Rogelio and Xo are both contemplating their career choices.

Xo struggles to make an important decision and looks to Jane for guidance leaving Rogelio feeling like an outsider. Alba is frustrated with Rogelio when it seems he is once again making his career a priority over Xo. Meanwhile, Petra turns to Rafael for advice on her love life.

Jane's burgeoning relationship with Adam helps bring out her fun side and reminds her that she isn't just a mom. However, when Adam gets a job opportunity, he asks for Jane's opinion on if he should stay or go. Rogelio is facing issues with his co-star at work and things are about to get even worse for him. Xo is helping to take care of Darci to prove that Rogelio is committed to being a father to the baby. Meanwhile, Petra and Rafael are working together to try and buy back the hotel, but are running into trouble, causing tension between them.

Stripped of both her ability and Goody's book, Wednesday is forced to do some old-fashioned detective work on a school camping trip.

When Jane’s cousin unexpectedly shows up at her door, Jane questions her own less than spontaneous life. Xo finds the perfect location for her dance studio, but it happens to be near her ex-boyfriend, Bruce. Rogelio realizes his feelings for Xo, but struggles with telling her. Petra is served with a lawsuit and she decides to ask Rafael for help. Meanwhile, Michael is ready to get to work just as they get a break in the Mutter case.

Jane must get over the newest hurdle in her life, which proves to be harder than she and Rafael would have hoped. Rogelio discovers that he and River are not as equal as he thought. Meanwhile, Jane and Petra must deal with the children not getting along with each other, which in turn brings up issues of how Petra and Jane feel about each other.

With Jane and Rafael finally in a good place, they are concerned to discover Mateo's treatment might be a problem. Alba and Rogelio are worried about Xo's recent behavior. Meanwhile, Petra is secretly pleased when Rafael and Jane begin fighting over her.

Moe is flying high after venture capitalists take a shine to his homemade whiskey, while Grampa, after injuring himself babysitting Bart, decides he'd rather be looked after by his grandson than be at the nursing home. Also, Lisa voices her displeasure at a hologram of music legend Bleeding Gums Murphy, and Sonny Rollins (as himself) shows up to ask her to stop all that jazz about boycotting a record label.

Marge and Lisa visit the nail salon where they engage in a spirited debate as to whether a woman can be smart, powerful and beautiful all at the same time and spin four tales of famous women featuring famous Springfield faces: Selma as Queen Elizabeth I, Lisa as Snow White, Marge as Lady Macbeth and Maggie as Howard Roark, the idealistic architect protagonist from Ayn Rand’s The Fountainhead.

Grampa gives each family member a portion of his savings; Lisa worries that Nelson's instant success with a new business venture might lure him away from continuing his education.

Lisa brings in assembly woman Maxine Lombard to put a stop to Mr. Burns' fracking operation, but is taken aback when the two political opponents find themselves attracted to one another.

Jane is having a hard time dealing with Rafael avoiding her, so when an issue with Mateo comes up she uses it to get some face time. Rogelio turns to Jane for help when he learns his pilot is in trouble. Alba and Jorge enlist Xo’s help to study for their upcoming immigration test. Meanwhile, Petra finally gets to the bottom of who has been terrorizing her.

Harry and Helen go undercover as American diplomats to befriend and recruit the Pérezes, a couple with connections that can help Omega Sector take down a rogue general who has gained missile-launching capabilities. The mission takes a turn when they realize the Pérezes have a secret of their own.
