As the new semester begins, Kazusa Sugimoto and Mr. Kagami's wedding day is finally here. Akira, Kyouko and the theater members attend the ceremony. And while everyone is excited to meet the family, all Kyouko can do is look at Yasuko. While many emotions and thoughts fill the air, the bride and groom are greeted mostly with blessing for their wedding. After the ceremony, Fumi and Akira meet up at Enoshima to hang out, but to their surprise another unexpected guest appears.

On the day of the concert Ritsuka and Mafuyu get into a little spat and one of the strings on Mafuyu’s guitar breaks. Haruki tells Ritsuka to run and buy new strings, and Ritsuka then realizes that Mafuyu’s been trying to do everything he had been asking him to do this whole time. As he replaces Mafuyu’s strings, he tells Mafuyu how he feels. Even though there are still no lyrics done, their time to perform finally arrives, and...

Ritsuka comes to the realization that he was so worked up at the concert that he kissed Mafuyu. Ritsuka hears that Mafuyu didn’t come to school because he had a fever, so he decides to go visit him. The next day, Mafuyu is feeling better and the band gets together to celebrate his recovery and to try to figure out their future as a band and figure out a name for their band.

Ritsuka Uenoyama a high school student and guitarist wants to skip gym class to nap but to his surprise fellow and unknown to him student Mafuyu Satō is in his already sleeping in his usual hiding place. During this unexpected meeting Mafuyu asks Ritsuka to repair and to teach to play his Gibson ES-330 guitar. Ritsuka declines and sets off the story of this unlikely duo. We are also introduced to Yayoi Uenoyama (Ritsuka’s older sister), and band mates Haruki Nakayama (bassist), and Akihiko Kaji (drummer).

Back to work at the rear palace, Maomao listens to Guen talk about his family's business. Meanwhile, Lihaku hears a rumor that whips him into action.

Covering up Jinshi's otherworldly beauty is no easy task, but after Maomao takes the challenge head-on, she's surprised when she's also asked to don the disguise of a noblewoman and escort "Jinka" outside the palace.

Ritsuka introduces Mafuyu to his other bandmates, Haruki and Akihiko. After some convincing from the other two, Ritsuka finally agrees to teach Mafuyu how to play guitar. Mafuyu is so excited about playing guitar for the first time that he can’t hide his excitement. One day, Haruki and Akihiko tell Mafuyu the most important thing about playing music...

Ritsuka is floored after hearing Mafuyu’s singing voice and invites him into the band, but Mafuyu declines. Ritsuka just can’t take no for an answer and keeps trying to invite Mafuyu into the band, but now, Mafuyu is avoiding him. Then during band practice, Haruki asks Ritsuka to actually think about if he ever thought about how Mafuyu felt...

It is decided that Ritsuka and the rest of his band are doing a live show. Haruki and Akihiko go out drinking and talk about Ritsuka and Mafuyu. Since Akihiko had ridden his motorcycle into town, he asks to spend the night at Haruki’s place and Haruki thinks back on the first time they met. That was right around the time Haruki’s old band had disbanded and he had first encountered Ritsuka, who had just entered his third year of middle school...

Ritsuka hears a rumor that the person that Mafuyu used to date had died and is a bit shaken. Ritsuka couldn’t build up the courage to ask Mafuyu about it, but then, Akihiko visits his place. Akihiko then suggests that Mafuyu write the lyrics for the song Ritsuka had made. Ritsuka was thinking the same thing, and at the next band practice, asks Mafuyu if he’d do it.

As the day of the live show approaches, the season heads into the rainy season and the high school boys have finals. While Mafuyu has trouble coming up with lyrics, he gets visited by his childhood friend, Hiiragi Kashima, who was also Yuki’s childhood friend.

Mafuyu tells Ritsuka that he likes him and Ritsuka is ecstatic to find out that they both like each other but at the same time, he remembers himself saying that band members should never bring relationships into the band. However, they both decide to talk to Haruki and Akihiko about it. Haruki gives them a lecture and Akihiko congratulates them. Meanwhile, Haruki, who likes Akihiko...

Preparations for the school production and upper classmen's musical number are in full swing. With Yasuko making a guest appearance as the protagonist, Heathcliff, many of her fans have gathered in great excitement to see her performance. However, there's only on person on her mind: Fumi. Kyouko approaches Yasuko and carefully acknowledges that she knows about her and Fumi, which brings about some uneasiness to Fumi. This causes her to ask Yasuko a question about her first love.

Finally the day of the Fujigaya's performance has arrived. The first years start off with a performance of "Le Petit Prince," followed by the second year's "Little Women." Finally the upper classmen begin their performance of "Wurthering Heights." Fumi heart skips a beat at the sight of Yasuko's performance on stage. At the end of the performance, Fumi is taken aback as her senpai starts to cry.

To Maomao's surprise, Jinshi brings her directly to his house instead of taking her back to the rear palace, and tells her she's to work in the outer court. Not only is there much to learn, it seems there's many eyes on her as the new hire.

Maomao's peaceful morning at home is interrupted when she's called in to investigate an apparent double suicide at one of the local brothels.

Mafuyu finally decides to join the band. In order to compose a song to go along with the little tidbit that Mafuyu sang for him, Ritsuka dives back into playing guitar nonstop. Haruki is at his part-time job one day when his friend Koji Yatake comes by and asks him if he and his band would like to appear in a live show he’s putting on. Ritsuka is teaching Mafuyu guitar at school as usual and then invites Mafuyu to go look at effect pedals with him.

Ritsuka realizes how he truly feels and ends up taking out his frustrations and confusion on Mafuyu. Ritsuka ends up talking to Akihiko, who tells him that what he’s feeling is completely normal, but Ritsuka still wonders if it’s okay to admit these feelings. As Akihiko watches over Ritsuka and Mafuyu, he remembers his past with Ugetsu.

Since Sana had nowhere to go, Zoroku decided to let her stay in his own home for the time being. After he finds out that the previous day's incident isn't being covered by any media, he makes a call to an old friend. Meanwhile, Sana awakens to find Zoroku's granddaughter, Sanae, watching over her. Sanae says her grandpa asked her to keep an eye on Sana while he went to work. Sana was untrusting at first, but they eventually warm up to each other. Then Sana recalls her time spent at the research facility...

The seasons have quickly turned to winter. The matter of the research facility has been resolved, and life is normal again in Zoroku's household. Sana seems to have fully adjusted to being a member of the Kashimura family, as well. After seeing Sanae off on her way to school, she heads for the flower shop with Zoroku, where she sometimes helps with his work. She still has some trouble with stamina, but she has adapted well to the outside world. Then, one day, Sana goes out with Zoroku to get her overgrown hair cut...

Zoroku is making a trip to Yokohama to meet a client, so he takes Sana with him. Accompanied by Ichijo, Sana is impressed by the sight of the ocean and the robot-operated factory that she visits, and enjoys her day out to the fullest. Rejoined by Zoroku, the trio visits Chinatown, but then Asahi and Yonaga suddenly appear after being unseen ever since the research facility incident was resolved. The twins run away as Sana and Ichijo chase after them...

Ever since that rescue by Yamato, Mei started having dreams about him being her protector. Later on she gets to befriend Asami Oikawa, who idolizes Yamato. For this she refuses Yamato's invitation to karaoke. However, because Asami has big breasts, she is being bullied at school, and Mei even stands up for her, at the cost of her cheek. Asami accompanies her to the clinic, though Yamato has bandaged it up prior. Kenji, who is heading for the clinic after being hit by a soccer ball in the face, catches the two bully girls inside the school clinic picking on Asami and defends her, though a little misunderstanding about her breasts and his bleeding nose made her run away. With some encouragement from Mei, Kenji eventually confesses his feelings for her.
