Alexis is reluctant to pursue a billion dollar venture put forth by a confident Michael Culhane. Suffering from congestive heart failure, Krystina lapses into unconsciousness, until doctors are able to regain her vital signs. Krystle and Blake helplessly stand by. Dana fears something may come between her and Adam, preventing their plans of marriage. Upon hearing the news of Krystina, Alexis rushes to the hospital to see Blake. Blake hires him to do undercover work for Denver-Carrington, and he starts flirting with Cecil's secretary. Blake warns him about being unloyal. Steven gets a visit from his gay friend, Ted Dinard, from New York.

Following their passionate love making, Zorelli suspects Fallon is merely trying to influence him to drop the Roger Grimes case. After Virginia storms from Dex's room, leaving behind pictures of them together from a happier time, Dex is left stunned by the uncanny turn of events. Blake orders Zorelli to stay away from Fallon. To avoid having their family secret revealed, Blake vows to take the rap for Grime's murder. Fallon continues to be haunted by the memory of Grimes. Sable discovers Gibson left his knife in Sammy Jo's barn. Confronting Gibson, she warns him to leave Denver or face her wrath. Zorelli receives a blown up photograph of Grimes with Blake, proving Blake knows more than he is letting on. Learning that Heath is a regular gambler at her friend's casino, Sable follows him there. Walter takes Steven to a bordello to try to ""straighten him out"". Something goes wrong at Matthew and Walter's rig, Steven is blamed for sabotaging, and though he's innocent, he looses his job. Blake's plan now is to take Walter and Matthew's rig when they're in trouble. Krystle doesn't like Blake's methods in his work. She pawns an emerald necklace and loans Matthew the money to help him. She makes a false copy so Blake won't understand it's gone. In the end, Matthew and Krystle kiss, but Krystle breaks it off and leaves.

Krystle reconciles with Daniel, who reveals that his break-up with her sister was amicable. Dominique, bitter over Blake's continued refusal to acknowledge her as a Carrington, considers a number of alternative courses, including a generous offer from Alexis for her share of Denver-Carrington. Claudia moves into La Mirage. Krystle confides to Steven that Daniel is Sammy Jo's father and therefore little Danny's grandfather. Jeff and Nicole find the missing piece of a map that DeVilbis and Fallon had shared in the hope of finding buried treasure. Blake's father suffers a heart attack.

Krystle begins working with Daniel. Blake is adamantly opposed and exchanges harsh words with Reece. Dex is furious with Alexis for traveling to Sumatra to see Blake's father. Alexis learns from Amanda of Dex's experience with Daniel in Vietnam. Jeff and Nikki follow the treasure map to a remote jungle location and find a statue filled with jewels, as well as a woman who has been impersonating Fallon. Jeff awakens the following day and learns that while celebrating, he and Nikki were married.

Caress continues her relentless extortion of Emily Fallmont, who turns to Blake, her only hope. Sammy Jo is hurt by Clay's suggestion of an abortion. Danny's nursery school teacher, Claire Prentice, shows Steven some of Danny's drawings--drawings that reveal a deeply troubled little boy. Clay shows up at Sammy Jo's door and proposes a Las Vegas wedding. Alexis uses the information she requested on Michael Culhane to expose his charade to Amanda. He pleads with Amanda to believe his love for her is real, confessing he loaned the money to her father and promising to never use it against him--as long as she keeps the information secret. Suffering from the pressure of Caress' blackmailing schemes, Emily goes to Buck with the truth that she was with Ben the night of Blake's mother's death. Fleeing from Buck's drunken, verbal abuse, Emily runs blindly in front of a speeding taxi, throwing her apparently lifeless body to the pavement.

Krystle and Blake are stunned to learn the heart donor's mother, Sarah Curtis, has had second thoughts on allowing the surgery. Neil McVane carries out his promise of blackmail, as Adam receives a baby booty with his name sewn on it. This is evidence which McVane claims will prove Adam is not the Carrington baby that was kidnapped many years before. Dex, sympathizing with Sarah's plight, is able to use their friendship to persuade Sarah to give her permission for the surgery. Following the operation, a tense Krystle and Blake receive cautious optimism from the operating surgeon. Only time will tell if Krystina's body will accept the new heart. En route to ask Dex for a job, Leslie is involved in a minor traffic dispute with Clay. After being offered an apprentice job by Dex, Leslie is disheartened to learn she will be working directly with Clay. The Carrington family gathers to offer Krystina a joyous welcoming on her arrival home. Dirk Maurier, an arrogant California real estate baron, sets his sights on one of Denver's most prestigious assets, Alexis Colby. As Sarah Curtis' grief deepens, Blake and Krystle are unsuccessful in contacting her to express their concern. Convinced that he is truly not a Carrington, Adam is forced to choke back the irony, as Blake forgives him for all his malicious past deeds and welcomes him back as his son and heir. Krystle flies to Wyoming and discovers Sarah, unconscious in a garage full of exhaust, apparently having attempted suicide. Adam and Dana's relationship continues to deteriorate as a result of Adam's self-abuse over the doubts of his Carrington heritage. Alexis asks Steven to try and find what is causing Adam's destructive behavior. Dana unsuccessfully questions Dr. Edwards on Adam's mysterious past. Furious at Alexis' dismissal of their personal and professional relationship, Michael joins forces with Neal McVane to exact revenge. Ben is leery of Leslie's growing fondness for Clay, fearing he may be his illegitimate son with Emily. Returning from an encounter with Neal, Adam is arrested for drunk driving and incarcerated. Blake and Dex notice the unnatural attachment Sarah is forming with Krystina. When Krystle is forced to fire the nurse looking over Krystina, Sarah is quick to volunteer her services. Following a surprise wedding shower for Dana, Adam cruelly decides to call off the wedding.

Blake and Krystle wait helplessly as an all-points-bulletin is put out for Sarah and Krystina. Adam betrays Alexis' trust by tipping Neal McVane off to her and Dirk Maurier's stock buyout of Trouvitle Industries. Hiding out in a leased apartment, Sarah convinces herself Krystina is her little girl. Krystina, missing her family and home, refuses to take her heart medicine, resulting in a dangerous risk of rejecting her new heart. Having reaped the benefits of three very successful oil wells, Nick Kimball jets Dominique off to San Francisco for dinner, and caps the evening off with a proposal of marriage. In a drunken haze, Adam wanders the streets looking for the abuse he feels he deserves. Krystle finds an address circled in the newspaper. At the apartment, Krystle persuades Sarah to open the door, reuniting mother and daughter.

Dex is rushed to the hospital while a search party scrambles to locate the missing Carringtons, who are being held captive in a bunkhouse. Fear of the deranged Matthew forces Krystle to pretend that she still has feelings for him. Fallon's extraterrestrial experience in the desert confounds Jeff. Adam's plans to have a child surprise Dana on their honeymoon. Steven stabs Matthew in self-defense and the family's ordeal is over.

Blake and Krystle have to break off their honeymoon, because Blake's in a bit of a crisis at work, and he has to go home to do business. Walter gets in trouble with the workers on his rig, but he gets it all straightened out, and both Matthew and Steven get a job there. Blake doesn't like this. Krystle has problems getting along as a wealthy woman, with all the servants and the money. Matthew and Claudia fight alot, they both think it's difficult to start this new life. Cecil and Fallon have negotiations of their own. Cecil is going to help Blake out of his problems, if Fallon marries Jeff.

Blake apologizes to Krystle about his behavior, and she forgives him. Michael has found out about Krystle's pawning and tells it to Fallon. Matthew and Walter finally strike oil. Claudia goes out with a guy she meets and almost has an affair with him. She manages to pull out, but later she has an affair with Steven. Lindsay starts finding out about it.

Alexis attempts to persuade the head of the Chinese delegation to hire Colbyco. Blake is surprised to learn Lady Ashley is an Acapulco. Amanda has a romantic fling with Prince Michael of Moldavia. Claudia meets with Luke, asking him to honor Steven's request that they remain apart. Krystle makes a surprise visit to Daniel, who hurriedly hides maps and plans detailing a secret military maneuver. While riding, Krystle is thrown from her horse. Relieved she is unhurt, Daniel kisses her passionately.

Amanda spends the night with Prince Michael and then is heartsick to learn he is engaged. Dex persuades the Chinese delegation to use his company instead of Blake s for an important drilling job. Alexis offers Blake a generous deal in the South Seas. Although suspicious, he accepts. After Claudia spots Steven and Luke at a restaurant, she finally accepts Adam's advances.
