As this titillating Goldie and Kate: E! True Hollywood Story reveals, life has been kind to them both. Mama Hawn had success in television and films right from the start, and daughter Hudson rode her coattails to early notoriety.

But early on, Hawn worked as a dancer to pay the bills and eventually left her trail of broken marriages behind her as she made it to the top of Hollywood, becoming one of the movie industry's highest-paid entertainers.

Learn how she dealt with the death of her parents and how she witnessed one of her dear friends being struck by a car in front of her eyes. Hear also, from friends and loved ones, how she managed to raise her three kids, all while starring in and producing movies.

And, like her mother, Hudson has broken a few hearts in her day. From an early age, she knew she wanted to be as glamorous,

Missing-persons advocate John Walsh showcased Laci's disappearance on America's Most Wanted and urged Scott Peterson to appear on the show. Peterson refused.

• Television movies have been made about both Walsh's and Peterson's family tragedies. Walsh was portrayed by Hill Street Blues captain Daniel J. Travanti in Adam, while Peterson was played by former Lois & Clark star Dean Cain in Perfect Husband: The Laci Peterson Story.

• Several weeks into the search for Laci, Scott contacted a realtor to inquire about selling their house and sold his wife's Land Rover, claiming it brought him bad memories and that he needed a truck for work.

• Police placed a global positioning system (GPS) in his new truck to follow his every move.

• Laci's case was reclassified from a missing-persons case to a homicide case before detectives ever found her body.

• Detectives found Laci and the body of her unborn child in February 2003. The remains had washed ashore on a waterfront near Berkeley, California,

Growing up, Jenny McCarthy was often outshone in the classroom and on the athletic field by her three sisters. By the time she was 23, however, she was one of the most recognizable faces in America.

On the heels of a Playboy layout that led to her being named Playmate of the Year in 1994, McCarthy shot to stardom on MTV's dating game show Singled Out. But what goes up inevitably crashes, as chronicled in this wild-ride episode Jenny McCarthy: The E! True Hollywood Story.

McCarthy's glee at manhandling Singled Out contestants and her willingness to go over the top for a laugh only made fans love her more. Soon, her face was on magazine covers everywhere--one publication even had a weekly ""Jenny Hot Meter"" to track her fame. That's not bad for a former deli waitress from the south side of Chicago.

Her dizzying rise continued with a starring role in the NBC sitcom Jenny, but it lasted only a handful of episodes, and soon her name was being followed with phrases like ""flavor of the month""
