Adam has a dream in which he sees a warrior similar to He-Man fighting both Hordak and the Snake Men. Plagued by questions raised by this dream, Adam journeys to Castle Grayskull seeking answers from the Sorceress. The Sorceress answers with the story of King Grayskull. Meanwhile, events foreshadowed by the dream being to unfold as Hordak orders Skeletor to his former sanctuary, where he can free Hordak from Despondos....

He-Man and Battle Car are overpowered by Skeltor's newly formed Council of Evil, but manage to escape capture by transforming back into their other selves. Alongside Teela, they attempt to free the Masters, but fail with Adam losing his Sword of Power in the process. An injured Prince Adam and Cringer journey back to Castle Grayskull when they realize Skeletor is on his way to conquer it. The pair stand in defense of the castle as the Council of Evil and the escaped Evil Warriors arrive in Force!

Desperate times call for desperate measures; in an effort to prevent the return of the Snake Men, the Masters of the Universe seek a temporarily alliance with the Evil Warrirors. Skeletor agrees to join his forces with theirs, but then ambushes the Masters when they arrive. With the Masters and the Evil Warriors preoccupied by their own battle, Kobra Khan and Rattlor are able to make their way to the Void within Snake Mountain, freeing their ancestral allies: Tung Lashor, Sssqueeze, Snake Face, and the leader of the Snake Men, King Hssss!

Having seized control of Snake Moutnain, the Snake Men now seek the power of the Elders. Allying herself with King Hssss, Evil-Lyn reveals that the power he seeks lies within the walls of Castle Grayskull. He-Man and Zodak arrive just in time to witness King Hsss and Evil-Lyn using their combined powers to enter the castle! He-Man battles the hordes of Snake Men and Zodak confronts King Hssss, who has poisoned the Sorceress with his deadly venom...

In a remote area of Eternia, the Evil Warriors are all captured by the Masters of the Universe, and event witnessed by Skeletor with some glee. With the Eternial state of high alert no longer in force, the Masters take a long-deserved break. Their leisure time is cut short when disturbances occur across the planet. When each of the Masters investigates, he or she vanishes. It soon becomes apparent that Skeltor has assembled a new group of warriors, The Council of Evil!

All of Eternia is put on high alert when Kobra Khan escapes from the Royal Palace prison compound. The Masters journey to the Mystic Mountains where they inform the mysterious Zokak of the situation. Skeletor is quick to employ the talents of Kobra Khan, unsuspecting of the Snake Man's intent on releasing his ancestors from a hidden void in Snake Mountain...

Exposed for the traitor she is, Evil-Lyn now flees from Skeletor and his Evil Warriors! Realizing that Evil-Lyn stands no chance on her own, her father, the Faceless One, petitions the Masters for help. He tells of an unnamed living being by whose sacrifice Skeletor intends to unleash upon Eternia the untol evil forces trapped within the Forsaken Realm. Arriving at the Pool of Shadows to foil Skeletor's plan, He-Man is shocked to learn that this sacrificial lamb in none other than Evil-Lyn...

As the Snake Men prepare to awaken Serpos, new trouple is already brewing in Eternia. Evil-Lyn has allied herself with Count Marzo, and together they head towards the Well of Darkness to free Hordak from Despondos! Learning from Kobra Kahn of Marzo's plan, King Hssss and his Snake Men must abandon Serpos - for a time - in order to prevent the release of Hordak. Caught between two forces of evil, He-Man and the Masters must make their stand against the Snake Men even while thwarting the release of the ancient leader of the Horde...

Teela finds herself drawn to a village called Pelleezeea, where she falls from her Sky Sled, she awakens to find that she is in the company of small creatures, Peeleezeeans, who believe her to be someone of great importance from their past. However, evil forces are also gathering around the peaceful village. The Sorceress reveals to Man-At-Arms that Teela is in grave danger, even as she comes closer to the truth about her destiny...

The Masters of the Universe have won a great victory in driving the Snake Men away from the Mystic Mountains. Entering a local tavern in search of rest and refreshment, Man-At-Arms comes face-to-face with his estranged brother, Fisto. Old grievances rise to the surface, and Man-At-Arms accuses his brother of being a deserter during the Great Unrest. But this moment is soon interrupted as Buzz Off and Stratos discover that Webstor has eaten Ambrosia and has transformed him into a large spider-creature with incredible power! When the Masters are trapped by Webstor, Fisto is called into action...

Injured during a battle with the Evil Warriors, an unconscious Teela is taken to Castle Grayskull by Man-At-Arms and receives a blood transfusion from the Sorceress. Recovering at the Royal Palace, Teela discovers she now has telepathic powers and subsequently many questions for her father, questions that could lead her to the truth that she is not yet supposed to learn...

During a battle with the Evil Warriors, Man-E-Faces' monster guise is taken control of by Beast Man, resulting in feelings of self-doubt for the hero. At Snake Mountain, Skeletor decides to enlist the services of two bounty hunters, Tuvar and Baddhra, in order to eliminate He-Man. The two hunters track He-Man to the Tar Swamp, where only Man-E-Faces can save him. However, Man-E-Faces refuses to play the role of the monster, his most powerful guise...

When mysterious power outages wreak havoc across the planet, Queen Marlena's aircraft loses powre and goes down over the Cooridors of Lithos. Meanwhile, back at the Royal Palace, a being named Sortech has come to ask for help against an attack by Skeletor. In exchange for this aid, Sorteck offers a suit of Battle Armor. He-Man agrees to help the alien, sending Battle Cat to help King Rnador in the search for the missing Queen. He-Man and Sortech reach the alien's lair just as Skeletor, also clad in a suit of Battle Armor arrives to wreak his havoc...

The Masters are called to Spelea, where they discover Lord Dactys and his warriors defending themselves from a Caligar attack. While King Randor mediates a truce between Lord Dactys and Ceratus, the Snake Men take advantage of the distraction to enter the Temple of Serpos, intent on awakening the Guardians of Old...

With the peace talks between the Speleans and the Caligars having broken down, King Randor, Prince Adam, and Man-At-Arms journey to Subternia to help them reach a settlement. At the same time, the Evil Warriors decide to attack Castle Grayskull form below as all of their other methods have thus far failed. It is not long before the two groups meet in the depths of Eternia...

The Council of Evil and the Evil Warriors prepare to attack Castle Grayskull. Despite Prince Adam's best efforts to stop them, he is blasted into the abyss. Luckily, Orko finds him and hands over the Sword of Power. Emerging form the infinite hole as He-Man, he engages the Council of Evil and the Evil Warriors in a mighty struggle. Just as the combined magic of Skeletor, Evil-Lyn, and Count Marzo threaten to overwhelm He-Man once and for all, the Masters of the Universe arrive on the scene...

Using the power of the Medallion of Serpos, King Hssss transforms Snake Mountain into the mighty snake god, Serpos! Serpos begins to cause great destruction on Eternia, beginning with a vicious attack on the Royal Palace, then turning his attention on Castle Grayskull itself. He-Man and Zodak must combine forces to save the Masters and stop King Hssss from ruling all of Eternia!

The Masters of the Universe learn from Lord Dactys that King Hssss and his Snake Men are alive and well and are attempting to retrieve the powerful Serpent's Ring from the Sea of Rakash. Immediately, the Masters set off in pursuit, catching up with King Hssss and his henchment at the village of Felis Folia. With the Serpent's Ring now in his possession, King Hssss has already transformed the villagers into Snake Men, and does the same to the Masters when they arrive. It is up to He-Man, Roboto, and Orko to stop King Hsss form turning everyone on the planet into snakes!

When Mekaneck's neck is injured during a battle with the Evil Warriors he is ordered to stay back and act as reconnaissance. Thoroughly depressed and doubting his own abilities Mekaneck seeks solace by a lake where he encounters an old man. Hearing of Mekaneck's woes the old man tells the hero that he could grant him any wish in exchange for a specific Amulet from the Sands of Fire. While Mekaneck heads off to retrieve the Amulet, the Sorceress tells Adam that the evil Count Marzo has returned...

Beast Man introduces Skeletor to the Shadowbeasts, large powerful creatures that attack at night in vast numbers. Knowing the creatures hate any light source, Skeletor and the Evil Warriors cause Mount Barathrum to explode sending out a large ominous could that blocks out the sun. Ram Man must face his fears after Teela is injured during the attack, as the heroes soon realize the Shadowbeasts are striking both the Royal Palace and Castle Grayskull!

After receiving a distressing vision, the Sorceress sends Prince Adam and Man-At-Arms to the small island of Anwat Gar to retrieve the Legacy Stones, which are ancient artifacts of great power. However, the pair discovers Sy-Klone, protector of the Legacy Stones, and is soon engaged in combat with the mighty warrior. The battle is interrupted when Skeletor arrives and gains the power of the Legacy Stone!

On Orkas Island, Dekker, the former teacher of Man-At-Arms, is looking forward to a visit from his former pupil. News of the meeting does not go unheard and Dekker is captured by members of Clawful's species. Arriving on the island, Man-At-Arms, Teela, and Prince Adam begin to suspect that there is something wrong when Dekker does not meet them and they see signs of a struggle...

Odiphus, a petty Eternian criminal, witnesses the Evil Warriors victorious over the Masters of the Universe. The small creature journeys to Snake Mountain where he tampers with one of Tri-Klops latest experiments causing an explosion. When the smoke clears, Odiphus emerges as a huge muscular warrior with black and white fur. However, the transformation has given him an awful stench!

In an effort to separate themselves, Tuvar and Baddhra, still trapped in the single form of Two Bad, seek out the three pieces of the Triad of Discidium. The Sorceress alerts He-Man of the situation, explaining that the Spell of Seperation was originally invoked by Hordak, but halted as it began to tear the plant apart! But He-Man is too late, Two Bad has already retrieved the three artifacts and is assembling the Triad of Discidium.

Prince Adam arrives on the battlefield in the Evergreen Forest to witness the Defenders of Eternia facing defeat at the hands of Skeletor's Evil Warriors. Skeletor and Beast Man take to the skies on their Griffins with King Randor as their captive. After witnessing all of this, Adam hurries back to Castle Grayskull where he seeks out the Sorceress and openly accepts his destiny as He-Man...
