While attending an important event together, Alex ditches Noah when he needs her the most to mingle with DJ Dash. Meanwhile, Jahil revisits his love for Carlotta; Simone and Angel consider fleeing town after receiving a discouraging letter from immigration; Cassie's heated relationship with Andy is at odds; and Cotton's son Jayden finds an unlikely savior.

Three months later, Star returns home from touring, and Alex and Simone's fates are finally answered. Carlotta and Cassie's sibling rivalry continues, as the two grapple with the aftermath of Cassie's big mistake, and Christine is caught in the middle. When Carlotta's back is against the wall, Midtown Sound's strength and future is tested by Mateo Ferrera, and Star's big announcement leaves a lot of questions unanswered.

With the showcase finally here, it's time for the Midtown artists to put all their hard work to the test and prove they have what it takes to win. In the process, relationships are tested, ruined and sparked. Meanwhile, Carlotta's salon is under fire in more ways than one, turning everyone's world upside-down.

Still stressed and grieving, Carlotta lands celebrity host Ryan J to host Gravity Media's Snowball event, but it doesn't come easy. Meanwhile, Star finds out that Maurice stole from her, and Derek becomes skeptical about Alex's super-fan-turned-bestie, Olivia. Then, Simone is asked to speak at the Orange Ball; Cassie does business with her ex, Xander; Maurice gets a blast from the past; and someone's fate is revealed.

Although Carlotta enjoys spending more time with Maurice, her family remains her No. 1 priority and she'll let nothing stop her from protecting them. Meanwhile, things don't go as planned during an interview with radio hosts Headkrack and Da Brat, which Midtown had arranged for its artists to promote the upcoming showcase. Also, Elliot is eager to take his relationship with Cotton to the next level, Jahil realizes he and Brody have a lot more in common than expected and the love triangle drama between Noah, Alex and Star intensifies.

When Mateo pulls a shocking stunt to reveal Star's pregnancy, the social media trolls go wild. Meanwhile, Simone faces a choice between her marriage and career, Carlotta and Cassie continue to battle it out and Maurice and Cassie team up for an unlikely ploy. Then, Derek returns home to find Miss Ruby in trouble.

In an effort to boost ticket sales, Mateo brings on controversial rapper Lil Dini, who clashes with Take 3. Star and Noah confide in each other about their relationship issues and Simone is put in a sticky situation when Jackson is cast as her co-star in a movie. Meanwhile, Derek's keeping a secret, Cotton's suspicions about Cassie grow and Xander pushes Cassie to find the rat in her organization.

Carlotta returns to Gravity Records, but finds out a lot has changed. Star meets Jackson's mother, Becky, and makes a shocking discovery. Meanwhile, Simone asks Nina for help when Angel returns in an unlikely way; Alex, still reeling from her fight with Derek, struggles with writing her own music; and Noah becomes dangerously paranoid and enlists his father, Bobby, as his new manager. Then, Cassie and Carlotta take steps towards making amends and Carlotta finds healing in confronting her father, Calvin.

Carlotta does what she can to make the Rhythm and Bells Festival a success. However, challenges arise when Star ends up in a legal bind, Alex makes a major career move, Simone is hiding a secret and Cassie gets out of jail seeking revenge. Meanwhile, Derek and Ruby volunteer at the shelter, where Ruby comes face-to-face with the man who attacked her. Then, tempers flare as Carlotta and Cassie's father, Calvin, shows up unexpectedly.

Noah's continued substance use jeopardizes his relationships with the people who care about him most and Simone and Angel's relationship faces the biggest test yet. Meanwhile, Ayanna undergoes a major life change and Cassie and Carlotta's sibling feud comes to a head.

Under Mateo's hand, Gravity Media's finances are in the gutter and the team must pull off a successful ASA party to get back in the game. Carlotta returns and jumps right back into cleaning up everyone's mess. Cassie closes in on Xander and digs into the past, after her father's bombshell. Meanwhile, Simone watches over Star as Noah wrestles with his demons, and Alex and GiGi's rivalry takes a new turn.

Ayana is quickly reminded of the tremendous pressure she is under to make her family proud, when her father - a legendary music label executive - pays a visit to Midtown. Alex continues to be haunted by her lies to Derek; Star and Simone differ on how best to deal with Brody's mysterious return; and Noah faces a tense encounter with the police during an event thrown by the label. Meanwhile, Jahil works on a plan to debut a new duo he's discovered, featuring his nephew, Angel, and Ayanna's assistant.

Next up for the Midtown Sound artists is a scheduled performance at a Pride Parade in New Orleans, but when a safety threat puts them on lockdown, they are forced to face their issues head-on. Meanwhile, Alex's mother, Rose Crane, makes a selfish surprise visit to see her daughter in light of recent news surrounding her husband. Then, Maurice's job is on the line when Ayanna returns to the label and quickly learns that Natalie, the regional promoter he's brought on, is up to no good. Also, Cotton tries to connect her identity and her past, and Derek is at odds with grandma Ruby.

Tired of sitting on the sidelines, Star seizes an opportunity to stand out. Meanwhile, Maurice is presented with a task to help redeem himself, but is faced with an ultimatum that may cause even more drama for the Midtown Sound artists. Then, Andy and Angel clash with Jahil, and Cotton is put in a tough situation to help someone she loves.

Also, a shocking discovery causes Star to take family a little more seriously, Simone finds out a secret about Mateo she can't keep to herself and Andy is back in trouble.

Gravity Media recruits social media influencer Chloe David to attract more attention to Carlotta's festival, but Take 3's plan to hijack attention to their album doesn't go as planned. Cassie's relationship with Xander gets more complicated and Star must face her fears in order to build her family with Jax. Meanwhile, Detective Montero puts Derek in a dangerous position that could cost him everything.

After giving birth, Star ends up jeopardizing everything she has worked for, while Simone fights for her family. Meanwhile, Carlotta opens up about buried trauma from her past, Cassie puts her neck on the line to save her nephew, Alex's career is skyrocketing and the team begins to think about the future of their musical careers.

Star's situation with the law intensifies, while Noah juggles new priorities. Gigi and Alex face off to see who will be number one at the label. Meanwhile, Simone, Mateo and Derek fight city council to make Atlanta a sanctuary city in order to get Angel home.

Major competition ensues between Midtown Sound artists Take 3 and Noah Brooks when they fight for a coveted track produced by one of the industry's hottest producers. Blasts from the past are in full effect when Paola and Jahil explore their complicated history, Noah and Alex revisit their time together and Derek invites a date to the salon's reopening celebration.

Maurice brings in an old friend and regional promoter, Natalie, to help put the artists of Midtown Sound on the map. Competition and jealousy rise among the artists on their first gig as a collective, while Andy struggles with his dreams versus his parents' expectations. Alex and Noah finally get Star's approval, but the relationship is tested by a run-in with groupies. Meanwhile, Cassie offers Miss Bruce a job and Cotton makes a life-changing discovery about her past.
