When the hotel clerks bend down to retrieve her possessions, she murders them and robs the hotel cash drawer. In Tombstone, she has killed both Mark Jenkins in the American Hotel and Bates in the Occidental Hotel. Clay assumes he is looking for a man at least six feet tall since the bullets entered each man at a downward slant. However, he does notice a heavy scent near each victim. Meanwhile, Curtis' partner, Douglas Metcalf, an insurance investigator, has arrived in Tombstone. Clay notices the same lavender scent on him as well as on Mrs. Curtis.
