Frikkadel starts his own business after losing his job. Before he realizes, he hires two unplanned staff members who change his own ideas about his business.

The Vetkoekpaleis opens and Frik experiences some problems. He is visited by a "health inspector" and is so nervous that he gives away 22 fatcakes for free before Worsie and Boeboe convince him that business according to the rules is the best.

While Boeboe will be writing exams at the Polly-Anne School of Beauty, her niece, Sue-Ellen, works in her place. Sue-Ellen convinced for Frik and Worsie that Spiros Takanakis wants to steal their fat cake recipe.

Business is quiet at the Vetkoekpaleis. Spiros hired a belly dancer to lure customers to his store. Frik also decides to arrange a show. Great is his surprise as the dancer, Lolita Queen of Love, an old girl of his arrives.

Frik encounters problems when he has his bakkie serviced. After great drama he gets a new bakkie. Boeboe writes an exam and gets cheated.

Frik arranges with the Sun City bus driver to stop at Eugene's shop for souvenirs, at the Vetkoekpaleis for food and at Tiger's garage for fuel. However, things go awry when they eat at Eugene's shop, go to the bathroom at the Vetkoekpaleis and wave at Tiger as they drive by. Worsie comes to the rescue.

Frik realises that business is not that easy at all, and consults a consultant. The consultant is hopelessly too expensive but things change when Boeboe discovers his little black book. Worsie attracts business through a radio station in Benoni where one of his friends works.

There's chaos when Worsie discovers women. Frik and Boeboe can't talk to him at all and his mother is upset. Frik gets Worsie an apartment and his mother is initially opposed to it but concedes when she realizes that she can't stop him.

Boeboes injured and should lie in traction for a week. Frik has to get someone to help out because otherwise he's going to miss an important rugby game. Tiger gives him a place's name where he can get waitresses, but to his shock it's an "escort agency".

Frik has to walk catfoot to stay in Poppie's good books. When Poppie feels sick and goes home early, Boeboe is convinced poppie is pregnant. Worsie tells his mother, who in turn lets the whole family know. Poppie is furious and things get aggravated when Frik pursues her and her boss.

Worsie is convinced that Boeboe leads a double life when he sees her picture in a magazine. Boeboe denies this and after a big mess she finds out that she has a double-goer in Benoni.

There's great drama in Nigel when Tiger didn't get tickets for the Springboks against the All Blacks Test. There is only one ticket available and everyone wants it. Worsie wins a second prize in a competition and the prize is two test tickets.

Poppie's work sends her for a course in Durban. Frik isn't very happy when he finds out that she'll be the only woman on the bus and buys her a plane ticket. A girl who was at school with Worsie makes her appearance in town.

Worsie and Boeboe get into an argument about how many "tjorts" there are in "olke bolke". Frikkadel wants to buy a ski boat and call it "Poplap". Poppie is very moody. A visit to the doctor explains the moodiness and Frikkadel's boat shopping is a thing of the past.

Frikkadel desperately wants to attend the Blue Bulls' rugby match, but Poppie wants to go away for the weekend instead. When the bank is robbed while Poppie and Worsie are in the bank, Frikkadel's priorities change.

Spiros also starts making fat cakes and Frikkadel realizes that he will have to do something to make the Vetkoekpaleis more popular. Worsie desperately wants to win the competition prize, but he is not allowed to enter.

Ella and Apie have marital problems and she moves in with Frikkadel and Poppie. Boeboe also gets into trouble when Spiros's daughter finds out about her fiance's dalliances with Boeboe.

Sherridon is promoted to Zero Six. Poppie drags Frikkadel to an educational film screening. There's trouble when Poppie finds "Randy Mandy's" business card in Frikkadel's jacket pocket. Worsie gets the blame for this.

Sue-Ellen upsets Worsie. Worsie decides not to bet Frik's money on the horses but instead to use it for a better purpose. A cute blonde saves Worsie when two burglars make their appearance.

Things are going well with Worsie and his girlfriend until he gets a letter from a lawyer. The Vetkoekpaleis expects a visit from a journalist. Vetkoekpaleis does appear in the newspaper, but someone else in the Vetkoekpaleis gets much more attention on the back page.
