Laurel is an intelligent girl with a feisty exterior, but she is much more vulnerable than she likes to admit. Brought in to represent Laurel on drug and theft charges, Vince tries to convince her to turn her life around but must question himself if his interest is purely professional. An official complaint is made against Maxine accusing her of misdiagnosing a young girl in her care. Convinced there is more to the case, Maxine calls to question the behaviour of the girl's mother.
