Many of the country's teenagers are dancing constantly, under the spell of the Groovy Guru, who is helping KAOS take over the country via its teenagers. The Guru plans to incite the nation's youth to riot and destroy all government institutions.

Max receives a visit from his Army buddy Sid Krimm.Before he arrives however,a woman defecter from Kaos shows up to give Max a little Black Book that contains the names of various Kaos Agents.

Having found out that Max is a Spy, Sid who unwittingly gave what he thought was an ordinary Black Book to Kaos Agents, accompanies Max on their search for the book, and the infamous Maestro, a Top Kaos Assassin.

In this take-off of The Fugitive series Max is framed by Kaos. He is charged with Bank Robbery, and Murder. This comes about when a one-handed Man (in a Maxwell Smart facemask) shoots the Bank Guard, in front of witnesses who could identify him.

Feeling that she has no future at Control, and no future with Max, 99 decides to leave, and accept the marriage proposal with handsome, wealthy Victor Royale. Max, feeling jealous, goes to pursue 99. Having saved Royale from an assassination attempt, Royale offers Max a job as his bodyguard.

Max and 99 enjoy their day off at an amusement park. Little do they realize that the Amusement Park is actually a KAOS drop-off place for secret messages.

Albert Pfister starts to blow up the world using his new silent explosive.

The Chief is relieved of duty as Chief when "the President" (actually Gorshen, a Kaos voice impersonator) calls him and demotes him, making Max the new Chief. This is part of Kaos's plan to infiltrate and then destroy Control--but with Max in charge, Kaos doesn't really need to plan.

The story spoofs NBC's ""I Spy"" and Robert Culp of that series appears in a cameo role.

CONTROL tries to get files that contain a list of KAOS informers and agents.

On a mission for CONTROL to rescue Professor Milo Pheasant, Smart and 99 learn that he is imprisoned within an impregnable glass dome. KAOS has kidnapped Professor Pheasant and imprisoned him in a nuclear-glass cube. Max and 99 break into KAOS HQ to break him out, but they're unable to break the glass and forced to flee. As they're escaping, 99 reveals that she's pregnant, causing Max to get so excited that he reveals his identity as a secret agent to a reporter. This renders Max useless as an agent and eliminates CONTROL's plan to free the professor by having The Singing Agent, Rosa LaCosta, sing a special note that can shatter glass and have Max go undercover as her accompanist. To save his job, Max visits Dr. Proctor, who has discovered a way to spray paint a new face on people, and Max tries out several faces before picking one to help him infiltrate KAOS headquarters and rescue the professor.

When IH Industries acquires KAOS, Max and 99 attempt Operation Baby Buggy Switch to stop the new head of KAOS, Ironhand, a man with an iron fist, from obtaining The Anti-Anti_Anti-Missle-Missle plans.

When KAOS plans to destroy California by smuggling into the country dolls secretly containing the ingredients for the most powerful explosive known to man, Max and The Chief enroll in Miss Valerie's School For Expectant Fathers, convinced that it is a KAOS front.

When The Chief orders Max to romance and betroth Ann Cameron, a beautiful widow suspected of murdering her 12 husbands for the insurance money, which she donates to KAOS, the wedding coincides with The Smarts' first wedding anniversary, much to 99's dismay.

When KAOS heists CONTROL's payrolls, putting it into severe financial straits, The Chief sends Max, disguised as prospector Frogsie Debbs, to Mira Lodo, Mexico, to find Debbs' old partner C. Errol Madre, who posesses the second half of a map that leads to a gold mind that could restore CONTROL's operations.

Because he failed to retrieve a little red book from a Kaos carrier,Max has to train,and recruit three convicts to break into a highly fortified Mansion where the Red Code Book is.

Max and 99 follow the wrong map and end up at KAOS's new HQ instead of the maternity ward. 99 is incredibly close to giving birth, which is making Max nervous and unable to pay attention to his job. He spends all of his time trying to find the shortest way to get 99 to the hospital. At the same time, CONTROL is desperately trying to find the new location of KAOS HQ. It's made more urgent because Simon the Likable is coming to town to steal the Huffiker Plans from the Pentagon. Simon is unstoppable because everyone that sees him instantly likes him and will do anything for him. Max and Simon get their directions mixed up and Simon goes to the maternity hospital while Max takes 99 to KAOS HQ, Sunny Slope Sanitarium.

CONTROL must defeat Simon the Likable while 99 delivers twins. Max and 99 escape and manage to get to the correct hospital in time for her to have twins, a boy and a girl. While everyone is congratulating Max, Simon tries to escape until he runs into the one person who doesn't like him, 99's mother.
