Liam and Caroline find a burglar in their home and lock him in their kitchen. He ends up being revealed as an old school friend, who now plans to press charges against them for their use of undue force. Chloe's new best friend attempts to mess with Liam and Caroline's heads.

The Flynns hold an anniversary party for Caroline's parents, Pat and Alan. Liam's patience and party skills are tested to the max, especially when the tactless Pat upsets Chloe by revealing some truths about her conception. It is down to Liam and Caroline to smooth things over and tell Chloe the whole story of how they got together all those years ago. Kevin, meanwhile, has an awkward reunion with a girl he last met at a funeral.

To save money, everyone must make a sacrifice - but will Liam really give up his cable sports package with the biggest football match of the year coming up? Meanwhile, Chloe enlists a geeky school pal to fix the boiler, but he refuses to fit the last part unless Chloe goes on a date with him.
