Through research, Steve says he discovers evidence that in the late 1800s, a nearby "health spa" that was really a sanatorium was run by an allegedly insane doctor named Dr. Smith who believed he found the fountain of youth. Steve also learns about a German immigrant, Louis Roesch who came to town in the 1860s and was betrayed by his people because there was no civilization here. Meanwhile, Amy says she encounters a monstrous shadowman in the basement who attempts to harm the living including herself. Also Amy claims to come into contact with the previous owner, Louis Brunk who died in the home and the two of the six children of the Roesch family.
