Amanda is visited by Count Ditmar and Philip, who have significant news in their luggage. Mrs Andersen returns home from England with a surprising offer to Edith. And then Mrs. Fjeldsø experiences alarming news about her daughter-in-law's brother, the Austrian Jew Robert, who was rejected at the Danish border.

Mrs. Fjeldsø's relative, the Austrian Jew Robert, escapes from a German concentration camp which gives rise to turmoil in the small hotel, where Madsen also is meeting with a German gentleman who is to help the wholesaler into the circle of the National Socialist leaders. Actor Weyse on the other hand, is more preoccupied with today's meeting with his psychologist, who has planned hypnosis to help him overcome his stage fright. Leslie discovers a new side of the maid Nana, while Amanda after her breakup with Max gets comfort from an unexpected direction.

Things begin to look better to actor Weyse, who finally overcomes his stage fright, though only to embark on an adventure he cannot overlook at all.

But the joy only lasts until he is faced with a deeply annoying question of conscience. Finally the hour of truth comes for Vera and her relationship with Robert. And Nana receives a visit from home that is going to turn everything upside down.

Many threads have to be sorted out near the end of the season, as Vera must admit that it will require extra ingenuity if Robert is to get to Sweden safely and where Amanda finally finds her way to a new beginning.
